Sure, I guess you're problem is that you're using an ATI card. If so, it is due to the A.I. Catalyst, for a solution go to: Moddb.com

I guess it all depends on the specularity, so it could look great ingame. Only the front looks like a bad uv...

I totally understand you, got kind of the same problem. University, better life and then you learn a different approach on games so you just wanna skip the modding and start creating games from scratch. But don't spend too much time trying to enhance your mod the way you just learned, that'd take forever. Finish it as planned, maybe a few enhancements and that's it. That's what I do with my mod and it works pretty fine.
