I am known as Cylarne on Relicnews and many other places, but here on MOD DB, and Skype I am known as Lord Doofus, my preferred name as it is easy to change................ I am a developer for the Dawn of War game, and my mod is the Ultimate Apocalypse mod. I did A LOT with it. I am a coder, map maker, mod tester, AI developer, hex n' tex maker, FX maker, makes 2D images, voice act for units, make (poor quality) videos, scar code, create campaigns (with non lore related), GUI developer (expert at that), and finally I can make the "impossible" possible with super passionative thinking and enjoyment of developing games.

Minecraft

Game review

*applause*

So... what do I think about the game? You made a skeptic like me impressed. I did not think that Minecraft would be THIS good, in fact I thought Minecraft was an addicting game, with a poorly gui layout design, not to par controls, and all it is, is building whatever you want and the game got popular by doing well in PR or advertisement. NOPE.

Gameplay/immersion 10/10
Balance/mechanics 10/10
Replayability 8/10
Learning Curve 10/10
Storyline/plot 10/10
AI 9/10 (I was hoping I'd be swarmed with midnight monsters after playing the game for over 50 or so hours)
Graphics/content 7/10 (obviously, the graphics are not on par, but content is unlimited)
Functionality 10/10
Worth the buy? 10/10

...Woo. This is exactly my kind of game. I would have not made it any better myself, and I'm really good at making games for a living myself.

Why I rate replayability a 8/10 however, is (and this is being nitpicky sort of), I want something more to come at me after spending all this time playing. I also want my experience to build up and up in levels, than lose it all (Enchanting is also confusing). I want to make things do the work for me. I want to make machines, I want to make something that will go out collecting wood for me in single player. I want to be able to recruit villagers and have them fight monsters (mobs) and forge an army taking over caves and facing hordes of monsters attempting to eat me alive after several, several decadays in Minecraft. I want armies clashing in single player.

Instead, I have to go do this and this and this and this and this. The game does not offer any of that, but that is not why this game is worth a 10/10. This game is worth a 10/10 because this game is the most perfect game I have ever played. Great AI, great story, perfect gameplay, nice gui... it is my type of game that never gets old.

Nitpicky #2: Switch the controls, shift to run, and control to walk. It's a tiny bit better.

Complaint: DO NOT PUT THE TALK BUTTON RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRIGGING MAJOR BUTTONS (WASD)! The "T" button if pushed by accident will disable the player's actions and put the player into chat screen. This is bad, guys. While next to lava or enemies, man, and especially in hot situations, I couldn't think to get out. I kept pressing "T" and mouse clicking attacking creatures and fell in lava, losing all my stuff. TWICE! USE THE ENTER KEY! Most logical position, enter opens chat, enter equals close. We can switch controls, I switched it from T to Enter, but I can imagine I'm not the only one who experienced this. I cannot imagine someone carrying a large and treasured inventory they spent hard on.

Anyways, I love this game, thanks for making it. It is my top 3 games of all time I have ever played.

Early access game review

Dang this game is good! So I want to rate this differently compared to other games, because as in alpha stages, this game is BY FAR... so not alpha but better. xD -2000 points for that!!! Nah kidding. :D So this is how I want to rate it, survival, creative, and overall.

SURVIVAL MODE: 4/10

Below average. The game in survival is really good, especially now where there is exploration involved and etc., but there are many, many flaws to it that makes the game unappealing when playing survival.

#1: Huge learning curve. There really isn't many good tutorials for survival and most are confusing, but some do exist. There are so many things you have to learn in a both frustrating and complex game. It is HARD to bring friends into SE Survival. The physics may also make your brain hurt, even when you know what is going on.

#2: The requirements to build x item is greatly expensive and outrageous. You need 10 different items in a quantity of hundreds to just build a block (40 radio components just for a large ship SENSOR, epic facepalm! (Conveyors??? Expensive...)). You have a very small inventory, and you must play survival one way and the only way (welders on ships) to get some where. You must also contain items in your inventory of EXACT FIRST ITEM just to place an unfinished block... it's annoying. I can only play it right, but every time I do so, I just want so many things fixed. Especially when my ship crashes...

#3: Too much time is required to build up. Not a lot of wanting to start from scratch on new worlds. What you built on a different world will be lost on another. And if you built one, you have no want of joining other servers or games.

#4: Glitches and bugs.

#5: Enemy factions getting spawning ships and ram them into your base over and over. Servers suuuuck. Elevators don't work well as you fall through and connectors and landing on ships will sometimes make your small ship go flying and crashing.

#6: You can't leave 50,000m without getting lost in infinite space. The devs. for some reason took out coordinate system and limited beacon radius to only 50,000m. Less exploration...

#7: I could type more, but 4,000 character limit.

CREATIVE MODE: 10/10

Hehehehe fun. Build anything you want, wherever and whenever you want to, it is perfect. The only flaw is, players cannot die. So there is no point in defending yourself from players deleting your stuff. Laaaag is the big one. But otherwise well done!

OVERALL: 8/10

Survival: 4/10
Crative: 10/10
Fun factor/gameplay: 9/10
Mechanics/controls/ui: 3/10
Learning Curve: 4/10
Replayability: 9/10
AI: N/A
Campaign/Story: N/A
Balance between building blocks: 3/10
Graphics/animations: 9/10
Functionality: 6/10
Polish: 7/10
Worth the buy? 5/10

The controls are too realistic (in a bad way). UI is hard to understand. No character customization...

Corny balance.

Buy the game only if you like unfinished products, but I'd definitely wait a little bit longer. I stopped playing the game for the moment because there is just so much cheating with multiplayer, atm, shrekking your base when you go offline, or having to not do this and that with what you want to create and where or how. <<< TRY to follow that. Survival mode just plane feels good at times, struggling to survive, but then you realize what the game is missing. If you hate the feeling of building up your stuff with this and that and that and this for a couple hours only to see it gone next day or be all alone with no AI... not even putting outputs on x10 would change that for survival.

Play the game only if you want to build stuff and not engage in combat. The game isn't ready for faction wars or survival in general. Finally, this game has so much potential!

Keep your eye on the game, and pay attention to their updates if you like the game. This may not be the best game in the world, but I was playing it for months. The developers are really outstanding at creating the game, and they update it every week! +10 extra points!

Endless Space

Game review

This game in my opinion is very.... complicated, extremely hard to understand, and evidently boring to play for the most part.

Storyline/plot: 2/10

Gameplay/balance: 4/10

Immersion/Fun Factor/feel: 2/10

AI: 3/10

Tactics/mechanics: 7/10

Upkeep/Maintenance: 5/10

Learning Curve/understanding of game: 1/10

Race customization with fun factor: 8/10

Art/aesthetics: 8/10

Objectives/goal: 5/10

Worth the buy: 2/10

Don't get me wrong, this game has potential, but getting into the game is a nightmare. First things that come to mind is the off feel of the game. I did not like the music, the tutorials are not slightly helpful, it had no voice acting... and it is incredible how quickly an Easy AI can dominate you with ease. I also had my ships going in directions I don't want them to go.

Wormhole travel is impossible to do early game so you can't explore beyond being "trapped". Talking to your allies early without going to war is impossible and the game really drags on from there when you have absolutely no idea what to do.

I also hated the fact that things take forever to build, and I noticed that most of the time, I am clicking "end turn" perhaps most of the game.

Balance is... good I guess, I completely LOVED ship customization and that was hands down very terrific. The art is incredible, but the mechanics and general gameplay is unbelievably brutal.

I played three games of this, I tried so hard to like this game, I finally got a few things down, capturing some planets, finally getting some military out there, yet I can't do anything or go anywhere because the Easy AI is buffed up like crazy for us beginners.

I would have liked this game.... a lot if you had some kind of decent learning mechanic and take things slow at first with revamped economy and gameplay plus improved the outrageous AI.

This game is so demoralizing and at the same time, a failure at maintaining its potential.
