Chaosoft Games' most recent title is EvilQuest, an action/RPG with retro bit-style graphics. EvilQuest puts a twist on the genre by placing the player in the role of a villain bent on world domination rather than the traditional role of a hero saving the world. Chaosoft Games consists of the two founding members, Forrest McCorkle (Lead Programmer, Music) and Josh Ferguson (Lead Artist, Music/Sound, as well as Michael Hogan (artist). EvilQuest launched on Xbox Live Indie Games on January 4, 2012 and is available for 80 MSP ($1 US). A PC version of EvilQuest will follow soon.

It's certainly possible. I only set the end date of the sale to coincide with the supposed end of the world as a joke. If not, we will probably put it on sale again sometime down the line.

You must be missing a key item. You might need to explore some other areas - try clearing the Ice Cave first. Don't want to spoil anything here, but there are several walkthrough videos of EvilQuest on YouTube if that hint wasn't enough for you.

Thanks for supporting us by buying the game not once, but twice! We really appreciate it!

Glad you're enjoying it! To answer your question, there were 3 people involved in the making of EvilQuest.

Crystalis was definitely a major influence on EvilQuest.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the game so much. To answer your questions:

Tipping the girl in the strip club and killing NPCS are simply there for your amusement. The behavior of the King's item is by design. Think of it as a trade off between being able to charge to level 3 and being able to rapidly fire weaker projectiles. We are absolutely making other games like this!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I believe that I have a fix in place for this and will be submitting an update for the game after some further testing. I will post an update here once the fix is available.

Yes, there is no time limit in the demo.

@DaburaRed I'll look into this, but I think that the Enter key is hard coded to the "Confirm" action and this is why it can't be remapped.

Unfortunately there isn't a way to restore your default settings.

We'll look at increasing the contrast for the menus, particularly in our next game.

Thank you for the feedback!

When this issue with the mouse occurs, is it with attack, spell & item buttons, or just attack?

@XodusEagle

Hey thanks! it's so satisfying to see someone enjoy our work so much. I have to point out, we did not make Cthulhu Saves the World. That was done by Zeboyd games and is a turn based RPG that plays a lot like Dragon Warrior 2. It's definitely a good game (and very funny), but it's really quite different from EvilQuest in presentation and gameplay.

@Delphidelion I was able to reproduce this problem. I uninstalled the game and then tried to install and got the "no release" error.

So I tried updating Desura by going to:

Start Menu->Programs->Desura->Desura (force update)

After the update I was able to install the game without error. Please let us know if this method works for you.

We have contacted Desura about the "no available release" message. I will post here as soon as I hear back from them.

Are you saying that when you click on "Buy" the website is not putting the game in your shopping cart?

Or have you already bought the game and are having problems installing or running it from the Desura client?

Also, you are using a Windows PC, right? There are no Mac or Linux builds of the game available...
