Why free indie games are better that paid ones.

Pogo962 Blog

Hi again guys!

So if you were to buy a indie game lets say for £1, what do you do if it's absolutely terrible? Nothing your stuck with the awful game you were dumb enough to pay money for. Sure you get the odd big indie game such as ATDD (Amnesia The Dark Decent) or Super Meat Boy and yeah they are a hell of a lot of fun! But if you crave more but can't afford to game with the big time, I've found myself with an empty wallet plenty of times but wanting to game. So about a year ago I had paid boring things (Won't go into details) and with no money left I decided to check out this 'indie scene' I had heard so much about, yeah I'd heard of the mains like ATDD and the XBLA indie range, but I wanted to explore more of the web and see what I could find.

Lets say in half a year I was totally hooked, I had played my fair share already by then but I wanted more, just like the average 'hardcore' (As we seem to be labelled as). So I went and found more, and more, and more. You get the point. No matter how many places I looked there was always more than what I ever saw on Steam or XBLA even more freeware is rolling in like god knows what!

So coming to the end of this short blog I just thought that I should share my love for freeware whether its amnesia mods, games, horror I love every single part of it! But something I wasn't aware of is something's that's referred to as 'De-Making' games. I've actually downloaded a Silent Hill 2 tribute called 'Soundless Mountain 2' and if you love silent hill like I do (Scratch homecoming of course) I highly recommend this!

So this is the end of probably a useless blog (Laughs).

Stay cool guys \o/

Hotel Brennenburg - My opinion

Hotel Brennenburg

Okay so this was actually the first custom story I ever played for Amnesia: TDD. I replayed it again earlier and even though I liked it when I first played it I've played a lot since then and I have to say my view on this has changed a lot.

So since my revised revisit to the mod/Custom Story I'll give you a brief review on what I thought.

Pros of the Custom Story.

-Personally if you're new to the Amnesia CS (Custom Story) world then I would recommend this as a starting point to get the feel of what Developers and modders can do.
-The environment was atmospheric at times.

Cons of the Custom Story.

-It lacked a lot of story and that is a main thing for myself and other story driven players.
-A chase occurred in every area but one in the end it became boring.
-It was too short and surprisingly even after all the flaws, boring chase scenes and amateur story I still wanted to see more of this hotel.

Conclusion.

Could have offered more and lacked a story that I found appealing so for this I'm only giving a four out of ten.

4/10

Keep updated guys more reviews coming soon.

Peace out!

Rules and stuff like that

Pogo962 Blog

Hi guys! A little message about what my profile will be like.

Hi again guys!

Okay so this is what my profile page will consist of.

-A minimum of two Blogs per week whether they are long or short.
-I will be checking out amnesia custom stories regularly and if I like the look of them I'll support the developers any way possible such as spreading the world.
-Lastly soon I shall actually be starting discussions and I want all you guys to join in the topics at hand whether they are mods or games!

Rules of my profile.

-No and I mean no swearing, horrible or obnoxious phrases.
-If you can't be constructive or nice about criticism then keep it too yourself.
-Be nice to people I've seen explosive threads on here.
-Enjoy everything you see I'm trying my best:)

And finally the end of the Blog. Yes I update a lot and I seem to always be online but I love the stuff I do. I work within the media industry and I am a budding movie director and actor. I have starred in a 30 minute movie and that's what moved me onto voice acting because as fun as acting was for me I felt like a robot. Hopefully I will be contributing to a couple of Custom Stories/Mods for ATDD (Amnesia The Dark Decent)

Thankyou to the guys who are sticking with me!

Peace out and stay funky guys!\o/

I need a whole lot of help

Pogo962 Blog

Okay so the time is 22:56 in UK time and I am sat writing yet another Blog.

This is a short one, I have an idea for a custom story for amnesia and I need a scripter, level designer, and coder. I can do story making and stuff that doesn't involve making the mod because im useless at that (laugh). So if you read this and you fit into the catagories PM me (Private Message).

That's all guys stay tuned for the next blog:)

Peace out!

First Blog about indie games and stuff... Yeah.

Pogo962 Blog

Hi Guys!

Okay so this is my first official blog so it will probably be terrible but anyways, in this blog I am going to cover a indie game called EnviroBear,

EnviroBear

On my travels browsing the web I came across a small indie game called EnviroBear. So after doing a little research deciding whether or not it was to my tastes or not I final decided to download the whole 2.55MB... Killed my data. Okay I apologize that was awful, back to the game! So after downloading it I unzipped the file and began to play. The main menu I have to say is not appealing whatsoever, but I started playing even though every inch of me was screaming don't do it, it will be terrible! But my gaming instinct drove me on and for the first two minutes I had no damn idea what I was doing but after slowly getting the hang of it I began to enjoy this simple game. The goal you ask? You are a bear driving round (Yes driving) to collect fish and berries to fatten up for the winter. You have to do all of this in five minutes with a mouse controlling only one hand and you have to drive the steering wheel, change gears, eat things, move both pedals (Accelerate and Brake) with only that one hand whilst avoiding wasps and badgers too!

Pros of the game.
If you can over come the graphics being poor (Yet appealing at the same time) then you can have fun looking at the scenery whilst grabbing fish and berries whilst throwing a wild badger out of the window. If you can get into the mood this game does prove to have a lot of playtime and endless replay value with different challenges to overcome on every playthrough. Personally I thought this game was a lot of fun.

Cons of the game.
Unfortunatley if it doesn't grab you in the first five minutes it never will because as fun as this game was it doesn't have anything more to offer than what I have stated above.

Conclusion.
Fun but I like different challenges and the only things that changed in the game was the challenges and the odd colour change on the map. I like change!

So if you're into games that don't really change map but are challenging I'd recommend it, even if you don't try it because it's a whole lot of fun!

But all in all I give this game a 7/10 purely for originality.

7/10

Hope you enjoyed my first blog/Review guys,

More to come!
