Thanks guys! Very excited to show off more of the game! :D
Thanks guys! Very excited to show off more of the game! :D
Love that you guys are doing this...not enough love given to traditional animation in games nowadays :) Keep the genius coming!
Thanks for the offer! You guys have quite a talented lineup over there at the Agency :) You've been added to my list of musical friends ;)
haha Yes it is...gonna actually finish it this time too :)
Haha funny that you posted here...I forgot about all the work I put into this game until a week ago. Porting it over to a new engine as we speak :)
lol Well played, TR :)
No prob...I went back to play recently and it defiantly lacks something in single-player. Time to start work on Elfsquad7 2012, eh? :)
Weird...hadn't heard of that one before. Your playing the PC version, right? If your tryign to play with the controller, try pressing ESC on the choose character menu and it should stop waiting for player 2 to pick a character.
Let me know if that dosent work.
Ahem...not on the falling toys, you'll notice...just on the moving objects that can be grabbed or will hurt you, so you won 18ish% of the battle ;) Someone wisely noted that the creation process, when gone unchecked, results in Star Wars Episodes 1-3, so I appreciate you raising your concerns :)
Hopefully you get a chance to play it...I think it turned out to be quite fun (outlines aside) ;)
Haha I'm flattered, hoiitsben!
Theres actually quite a bit of genius on the channel that you should check out! Wizorb, cursed loot, dead pixels, all the radian games...quality gaming for sho!
Thanks man! If you get a chance, let me know what you think of it! :) All ears when it comes to feedback and critiques!
I've heard a lot of people that are holding of for PC...it that because you dont have an Xbox, or the indie channel is too tough to find?
An advent calender for media updates? Genius idea...wish I would have thought of it! ;)
And lol @ Undead santa :)
LUMBERJACK!!
I'll be reviewing it over the next few days, but so far it's looking great! Awesome work!
So awesome...two big thumbs up! Retro at its best!
Wiimedia.gamespy.com Yeah, i was going for a 16bit Paper Mario -esque feel. I know they didn't necessarily have white outlines on all characters, but I like the times they did.
It's all about hitting toys with your gun (to wrap them) then collecting the wrapped gifts as they fall. You only have so much time (usually around 40 seconds) to do this, so getting more time (by grabbing Sundials that randomly get placed around the level) is also important.
When you have 4 players going it feels a bit like a holiday version of "Super Smash Brothers", only you're saving Christmas, not beating each other up.
Sorry Theon, gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.
I tried a pass with the border effect off (no white edge or shadow) and it just ended up looking like any other retro-style game....not that there's anything wrong with that, but I might as well try doing something somewhat unique.
Plus I personally like the way it looks :) To each their own.
Thanks man...I have to admit, seeing that Watchers count tick up makes my day :)
Yeah, if the demand is there then why not? Though I'm sure you run the risk of oversaturation/IP fatigue, but when has that stopped folks in the past (I'm looking at you both, "Sims" and "Guitar Hero") >|
I hear ya Twitch...just looking to keep an open mind if someone has a valid view (even if it's contrary to my own).
haha I fear that style may be locked in at this point, but if enough negative feedback comes my way I can squeeze in time to tweak em ;)
Looks very nice! Congrats on the launch!!! :D
Yeah, certainly better...I'd just watch for any line on your background. IMHO, the grass strokes and (possibly unintentional) outline on the brick wall are what make the background feel out of place with the 3d characters.
Digging the move to the Chibi models, for sure, but I feel there's too harsh of style contrast between the backgrounds (sketchbooky with 3d elements) and animated models (cell shaded anime).
I see more of a "Tales of Vesperia" watercolor/painted look to your backgrounds (no hard line, mask 3d assets to the best of your ability, use 'washes' instead of solid colors). This would make the characters pop nicely and match their level of quality (I know...easier said than done).
But character work is spot on - awesome work!
edit: This shot in particular...

reminds me of this pathway shot from your game...

I know man... unfortunately the design calls for very obviously colored gifts (combos are pulled off via color sequences), and black+red (the core Genisis colors) are only used on enemy objects.
At least I tried to hit a nice "Sonic-Blue" color :)
Yeah, I expect several video game suggestions from this crowd :) Genesis Road Rash FTW!!!!
If you want to be in the credits, feel free to email me at scott@stardock.com and I can get your name/alias in :) Thanks for the suggestion!
I'll do my best to make its purportlessness worth your time :)
Not down with the "retro paper-cutout" look, eh? I thought it was cool, but what about it looks bad to you? (And thanks for the feedback!)
