Blue zones have little to no Tiberium scaring, meaning they are not completely void of the dreaded crystal. And that could be a research facility looking for ways to remove the crystal so they could have purposely created a small controlled field allowing the crystal to grow naturally so the test results can be closer to a natural tib field, as stated in the GDI archives the crystal is constantly changing, a specimen in a laboratory might not under go the same mutations due to environmental conditions. I could go on but I'm not going to in a comment pm if you want to discuss this further.
