Noble's Land is a full blown "Retro Sandbox MMORPG", there will be no single player mode. You'll always be playing online with other players.

When NL's time has come and gone I'll eventually release everything together, including the editors and server, so players can host their own. That is of course more then a decade away, I hope.

I'm glad you liked what you saw! If the video you saw was on here I suggest you check out the Alpha 0.4 video on YouTube, you can easily get to it on the homepage.

I'm a huge huge fan of the classic Ultima games style, 4 and 5 particularly. They are some of the games I'm drawing inspiration from, so you saying that makes me happy.

Yes I'm very familiar with Dransik, I played it for over ten years as Noble. It became clear years ago that Dransik was losing support and players. I volunteered to work on it for free and I got a nasty reply telling me to go make my own game, so I have been.

I consider Noble's Land as a spiritual successor to Dransik. Although the artwork looks very similar, which was intentional, the Dransik style originally came from the very old series Ultima, specifically 4 and 5. The artwork I use now is programmer art, I created it pixel by pixel, and I intend to replace it when the game earns some income. It will be the same retro style, just retouched by a professional that knows what they're doing.

Although the base game, GUI layout, and artwork will feel similar to Dransik I'm not making a clone, I intend to take Noble's Land much farther and expand on certain aspects. If you liked Dransik there's a damn good chance you'll also enjoy Noble's Land.

Glad you like what you see!

Noble's Land is being designed to feel like an older game when you play it, but the technology behind it is current. The game is designed at, and will look best when played at, 1920x1080. To keep things fair for all players any other resolution or aspect ratio scales to fit instead of showing more or less of the play area or black space. Everyone gets the same experience but those that play at 1920x1080 gets the "full" experience.

I myself play at 1440x900 and I think it looks great. 800x600, not so much.

I'd like to point out that the World Editor will be released to the public along with the game so that players can create, submit, and vote on new content to be added into the game.

Most of the feedback from this post mention Dungeon Siege. I've never heard of it before but I'm going to do some research of it and see the highs and lows of the game. I'm familiar with UO, it's one of the main inspirations behind the project. I always preferred skill progression, it makes sense that the more you do something the better it gets.

I'm a strong believer that less is more. There won't be a high amount of skills just for the sake of having them. I'd rather have less skills and have each be more meaningful.

Nothing is set in stone but I plan on having 99% of the items that come into the game be crafted by a player, and 1% be dropped from rare humanoid or human-eating creatures. Most stores, with the exception of the starting area, wont have stock items. Instead, they will sell what is sold to them from crafters. Those that don't want to craft can instead kill creatures for their spoils which can be sold for gold and used to buy gear. They also have the option of using a different profession to earn money, and buy the gear that way. That way players can pick what gear they get next, instead of relying on a lottery based system to get them. Creatures will drop spoils, some of which are used as raw materials to craft equipment. Each set's weapons will use similar, if not identical, ingredients so it won't be much different crafting whatever you prefer.

I like the idea of "linking" exp gain for different but similar skills. Each character has 4 secondary equipment slots which are for accessories. These are hidden from other players at all times are are used to further customize your build to keep an element of surprise. I'll think about what I can do to give the "linking" ability through the accessories, or maybe as temporary buffs for completing quests. Thanks for the suggestion.

Haha, well that depends. What game development skills do you have? I'm all set with programming but I could really use some good pixel art, music, and sounds effects if either of those are something your good at.

Thanks for the kind words! The goal is to look like an old amiga game actually, the base design is my take on the old Ultima games.
