Benjamin used to play more games than make them. He also used to strive towards being a professional animator so much he even did an undergraduate degree in the subject. Yet about two and half years into his degree a suprising shift pointed him towards game design and with making Flash titles in his spare time and applying for the MA in Games Design he found a deep passion within himself that would insure he never looked back. Using the skills he had learned in script writing, Flash, Illustrator and pre-production animation he started to make games through the MA whilst learning and honing a multitude of different skills. After achieving a distinction grade and creating “Littleton to the Rescue” on the MA he joined forces with Pete Bottomley to form White Paper Games.

Hi there, currently because we are using Unreal there is no direct port option to Linux. However we do know someone who says its possible, I cannot promise anything but if we can then we would really like to in the future.

Thanks for the comment ShrikeGFX and I totally get your point.

However we do work on both sides of the fence. We have two separate conception phases here at White Paper Games. We have initial concepts based upon reference material that are worked on by both our artists and level/gameplay designers before a block map is created. Once the block map is created it allows our artists to be more direct with the concept approach allowing them to plan assets and textures as well as general composition of the scene.

This way we work loosely as levels are being designed allowing us to iterate effectively before more refined concepts based upon structure take place. After all its the level designers job to design the structure of the environment and game play area based off reference whilst bouncing off artists for visual support. :D

Thanks my_medieval_soul! We have a few other settings that are really quite different to what we have shown so far. Expect a blog update on here later that looks at a different side to Ether One.

We are trying our best to create a solid atmosphere that really pushes different emotions depending on the area being explored. This will vary as well from more positive moods to the more oppressive ones that we have shown so far.

Thanks for the support and great comment as well, our artists are working super hard to push their abilities to the limit at the moment and soon we will be showing more products of their labours.

No jump scares in here! Puzzles make up the breadth of game play in Ether One although there are some very important abilities that you will be using that haven't been revealed yet. Hint - you are a 'Restorer' ;)

Possibly from the description above it does sound a tad like Dear Esther. I can however assure you the game play and setting of the game is significantly different, as is the narrative. There will be more information on this in the coming months so keep your eyes peeled for more information on how Ether is going to incorporate unique narrative elements as well as a unique story.
