Have you played Dwarf Fortress? You did. Good for you. I didn't. I just never could get past the "interface". I find the idea excellent, but the learning curve is not something I want to push myself through in order to enjoy it. Towns on the other hand, doesn't have this issue. It has a very similar idea, albeit inspired aditionally by some city builder games as well as a hint of Dungeon Keeper, but it doesn't have the issues dwarf fortress has. Sure, it's still a bit hard to get into it at start, but you have tutorials and you can use your mouse, and most importantly, it has clearly defined graphics. So if you ever liked the idea of dwarf fortress, this will be a great game for you.

Fun, pretty, complex enough to give you plenty of game time, and not complex enough to frustrate you. Even better, it's still in development, so even though it's great now, it will become even better.
