I'm pretty much here to check out source and goldsrc mods, being the most popular and easy to run. Though I also may review, comment, and occasionally visit the forums. I may also have a pitch ready for any new mods if anyone is short on ideas (which I doubt it, but it may stop the churning ou of hundreds of generic mods or ones that never get off the ground.) I also know how to do minor mapping for the source engine and can do some very basic scripts for Garrysmod.(Uploads soon)

Bananafoam - - 31 comments @ Some enhancements for ANZAC.

If I'm not mistaken, shouldn't the ANZAC's be wearing uniforms with shorts and shot sleeves? I saw a picture of the landings where they had set up a small fortification on the beach in an effort to establish a beachhead, and they were wearing short sleeves and such.

Poland wasn't even a country yet at this point in time.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Italians use French Adrian helmets?

The amount of detail here is unprecedented!

I like how the buildings details are actually models instead of painted on textures.

You also followed the style really well. Good job.

"elit" soldier, I have no idea if "largued" is a real word (according to my spellchecker, it is not) and "desertic" is not a word.

Hope that helps. The proper spellings in that order is: elite, sent to, desert.

Jesus Christ that description has some pretty-awful spelling and grammar. (Captain ******* obvious)

Kind of reminds me of this video: Youtube.com

But the mod looks pretty good map-wise.

Here's a tip, make the beach a little less flat. Up where the wire is at the seawall, I would make that a hill. The res should be flat, but the bunkers should be dug into the hillsides a bit more.

That is pretty much the best representation of Omaha beach, but if you were going for Utah then this looks about right. I think (I'm not sure) several accounts mentioned fog on the Normandy beaches.

I support the move to ASW.

The graphics be much better on it. It supports a lot more shaders then Source.

Location doesn't have every bearing on a game, you know.

I'm saying that this is highly similar in many respects, like the fact that it is an FPS with slight RPG elements like an inventory. The fact that you are in largely abandoned structures and the landscape feels desolate and unforgiving. Just because it's not in Chernobyl doesn't mean that it doesn't bear many similarities to that game.

Besides, why are you guys bitching about the comparison anyways? Like I said, STALKER on Source is not a bad thing at all. Is it because you think that just because of gameplay similarities with STALKER it means I'm calling it unoriginal?

I pointed out many similarities between this and STALKER.

Maybe you would've known that had you read everything instead of immediately jumping to the comments.

And yes, I guess it is a bit linear for STALKER. (Though I hear STALKER 2 is going to be linear)

This is going to sound redundant, as I'm sure I'm probably not the first to say this, but this feels a lot more like STALKER then it does Insurgency.

Post Soviet-Union Russia/Eastern Europe FPS with RPG elements and slight tinges of horror, as well as a desolate and frightening setting.

Yeah, it's STALKER. Not that there's any problem with that. I always wanted STALKER on a better optimized engine (Xray runs like ****) with more updated GFX. This provides. Can't wait, just a few months.

Bananafoam - - 31 comments @ German uniform

Actually, they carried a handheld adaption of the MG08 if I'm not mistaken. It was largely used by storm-troopers.

besides, the Germans in the picture are early war, from 1914-1916. After that the steel-helmet became the official helmet for the German infantry.

So, basically you come in here and don't really say anything about your mod except over-using some nice adjectives.

Could we have a little more info on what this is actually about? What will it add? can we have any info?

Whatever the plot is, I'm guessing it has something to do with Cthulhu.

Bananafoam - - 31 comments @ Driving trough Texas

I agree, I think Texas thinks a little to much about themselves.

What? Just cause your state is big doesn't mean you're somehow better. It's like when people buy hummers because they think bigger things are cooler, and to compensate for their tiny dicks.

Bananafoam - - 31 comments @ Battle of Empires : 1914-1918

I'm just going to say it, as much as I love this mod, I'll probably have a higher chance of being killed before this damn thing is released!

I really, really hope it's ******* worth it. This and Lost Alpha for STALKER are the two mods that always seem to update but never get released.

I understand it's a huge project and modelling and mapping is no easy task, nor scripting, but I just don't understand your stingy-ness towards the question of release. Why no beta? Is it not done yet, do you just want to release a finished project?

And as for the new special secret, I bet it's a Tsar tank. Just guessing.

Well wasn't the recommended amount of RAM 3GB if you're running normal textures?

And although it said it increased draw distances (the mod did, I believe) I turned down the vision distance in the game menu. If that doesn't apply to the way the mod does it, is there a way to change that setting? If not, can there be one in AF3?

And yes, I run 32-bit.

Bananafoam - - 31 comments @ AtmosFear for Call of Pripyat

I don't get it.

I have all the minimal specs, turned off sun beams and set down my vision distance, played on full-dynamic, and used normal res textures.

But this still crashed the game all the time. Like, it crashed when loading, saving, in combat, moving to an area, talking to npc's, opening the menu, and sometimes at random.

No lag, but the game was unstable as hell.

My specs are:
AMD Athlon II Dual-Core M300
3GB RAM
Windows 7
Realtek High Def audio
Playing on a Toshiba ACPIx86 Based laptop.

Actually, never mind. It appears that the crash may have been from a blowout that occurred when moving. It's still a bug, and I still don't have the crash log.

Actually, artifact guns already exist in the vanilla game.

You know the Gauss Rifle? That was something the scientist cooked up using artifact to propel the rounds.

It appears I have a crash whenever I try to go to Zaton, at least from Jupiter.

I don't know if it's related and I don't know how to view error messages (it just tells me to submit the bug) so I can't offer much. All I know is I'm running in Full Dynamic (Regular) and I have an AMD dual core (I have no idea what type) ADI Radeon X1450, on a laptop, with Win7. Thats all I got.

Mine crashes just about everytime I try and use the GEM editor!

It ***** up when editing breeds, which by the way thanks for having no presets for, it screws up for spawning certain things, and the error message is just nonsensical code!

Beta or not, it's not compatible with the editor.

Are the sandox npc's in the SVN release? They're pretty much the only reason I'm here, unless I can play this on singleplayer.
