'Does not appear' or 'Does not appear in the right place'.
If you went all the way through the install process, the folder should be *somewhere* on your computer.
Sorry about how long it took to reply, but I don't check here as often as I should.
In future, send me a PM with any issues you might have.
The Killiks in and of themselves aren't particularly advanced, no.
But they are shown to be quite capable of learning from the Joiners, and they do this learning rather quickly.
>how far off is a new version...
I hate to put a deadline on it - this mod is, as always, an 'as time allows' project - but I hope that I'll have something new to show off before the end of this year.
>..do you need any help modding?
Not at the moment, though thanks for the offer; The 'thing' that I'm on now - the story - is very much a 'do things in order' task. As each task - each mission - is a one person job, there isn't anything to help with as such.
Cheers mate, you'll be first on the list when I get to that stage.
I didn't actually realise that until just after I posted, funnily enough!
It's cool how things work out like that.
This is looking fantastic guys, well done.
My belated congratulations on getting the Planet Death sorted, and all the other bits of progress in the last however long it has been since I checked!
Expect some news in the next day or so.
Interesting take on one of my favourite fighter craft ever.
Not quite as wedge shaped as I'd pictured - I almost pictured it being a buffed up A-Wing shape - but all the more intimidating for it.
(I do hope that, come texture time, we'll see a nice charcoal grey....)
Beautiful work as always.
Goodness me that looks incredible; Brilliant job Kharcov.
(I'll just go and push my ugly thing under a mat somewhere.)
Depends on what you're asking really;
If you mean 'Will this mod work if there are other mods installed?' then it is a 'Mostly-yes'.
Provided a mod doesn't alter the base game in such a way as to break something that my mod relies on (I've not come across any) then you shouldn't have a problem.
If you mean to ask 'what will happen if you start combing various mods?', then I honestly don't know.
By all means, try it and see what happens.
Hi, and sorry for the extraordinarily late reply.
Yes; either run that .bat file, or launch the mod from the 'Custom Game' section of the game menu.
As for the crashing, I can safely say that I have no idea; BF 1942 was a temperamental game enough on release, and the years have only exacerbated it's issues.
All I can recommend is the usual;
1) Run the game (if using Vista or later) in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode.
2) Run the game (if using Windows XP SP3 or later) as Administrator.
A Google search will help if you don't know how to do either of those.
3) Last resort; Re-install the game to somewhere other than your Program Files (or Program Files (x86)) folder.
Hi,
I recommend that you check out this tutorial at everythingeaw.com; Everythingeaw.com
That should give you an idea of what needs doing.
Thank you for your wonderful, thought provoking, constructive criticism.
I can tell that you have a terrific grasp of what this actually is, and where it is in it's development; I'd go so far as to say that your understanding is better than my own.
I promise to consult you before I undertake any future endeavours, not only those which are a part-time piece of self-amusement but, indeed, those which are of mind-boggling significance.
Sincerely,
AUS_Doug.
And, as you'll see, the preview image is irrelevant to the game; This game doesn't lend itself to epic screenshots, so I'll just find nice pictures.
That APC looks stunning; Sort of has a 'Borderlands' look to it.
And that distortion on the T2-B Power to Shields..........wow!
Am I the only one who thinks that this looks waaaaay more badass/intimidating/awesome than the AAT?
Ah, never knew that he had a bonus; suppose that shows how much attention I pay eh?
Nice; always wanted Bel Iblis in the Peregrine.
Does he bring some sort of Thrawn-like combat bonus?
Gotta love things like this; It is ugly, and it knows that it is ugly, but it JUST. DOES. NOT. CARE.
Good example of function over aesthetics, almost to a Mandalorian Tra'Kad level.
Sorry that you interpreted that wrong mate, but it was - I thought - clearly a joke; I'd like to think that I'm about as far from an egomaniac as you could get and, more importantly, I hope that others think that as well.
I'm sorry for any abuse that may have been heaped on you by others for porting models, and if I've ever been one of those, I sincerely apologise.
In any case, I think we should stop hijacking the Admiral's page don't you?
"Does the New Republic have a similar fast scouting vehicle?"
I've just always assumed the used Bothan runners.....with Ion drives strapped to their shoes.
Looks nice, and good of you to keep the poly count down for those of us that play on glorified paper-weights!
I think it should be; In my totally unbiased opinion, it is a fabulous work of art, and the guys who ported it are nothing short of geniuses.
On second thought, I'd probably go so far as to say 'gods'.
Yeah that has a nice ring to it.
*cough*
Thanks for the free promotion mate!
Thanks for the support sandtrooper; you are, of course, correct.
However, I think Nomada is saying that I in fact applaud ('clapping') others who take credit for work that is not their own.
On that note; Nomada, could you give me some examples?
I assure you that any such actions on my part have come about through ignorance of the offenders actions.
^This^ Sooooooooo much ^this^.
As Niko says, modders have never been able to stop anyone from doing this, even before this legal bollocks came along.
But to those who would take full advantage of this, and unduly claim what is not yours, be warned; You will become a pariah (not to be confused with piranha), not deemed worthy of assistance or respect by those whose work you have stolen and, as our community grows ever smaller, you will find less and less people who condone - passively or otherwise - your actions.
If you want to use someone's hard work, just ask; It is only in special circumstances - a paid commission, or personal favour perhaps - that you will be denied.
The basics of model and texture work is not hard to master - I, with the artistic ability of a colour-blind pebble have managed it - so give it a go; It might be difficult at first, but there are plenty of people willing to help and provide feedback, and the end result - seeing a beautifully detailed model of your own design unleashed in-game - is immensely satisfying.
Cooperation, respect and sharing is what has allowed us to survive so long; Let us not, now, throw those things away for the sake of sating some suits who have no comprehension of what we do, or for making things 'a bit easier' on yourself.
The black screen is the .bat file (that launches swfoc.exe with the modpath argument to launch SOTV) running.
When it flashes up like that, followed by nothing happening it means the .bat file has executed but, for whatever reason, swfoc.exe has not found the mod that it is looking for.
First of all - though it shouldn't matter in this instance - it sounds like that you have run the installer without first extracting it from the archive; That's generally not best practice.
There installer should have placed a shortcut on your desktop.
Right click on it and, on Win7 or later, teh context menu should have an option 'Open file location' - click on it.
The window that opens should be your root FOC directory (i.e, should have swfoc.exe in there).
If not, you've installed it into the wrong folder.
That generally means that it is not installed correctly, most likely because you selected the wrong location when installing.
Do you have any other mods installed?
In my experience, the cause of most errors like that is when another mod modifies the base games' files.
