Currently. But it does work with WINE, so you can still play from Mac OS X or Linux. I' ve been testing it and it really works.

ASCII games and art existed way long before DF was even conceived as an idea. :o

Thanks so much for the custom skin pack, VingadorBR!

When I saw the sprites, I felt so happy. ˆ_ˆ They look so cute like that! I'll open a section in the Web site where other players can download custom skin packs and other fan-made resources like this one, and this will be the first I add, if you agree. :)

Again, thanks!

I have it on Steam. Played it, and it was really fun! It sorta reminded me of Pikmin at first, but they're both very different concepts, really. :)

The Mac .app seems to be working now! Anybody willing to test it out before we upload it?

If you try it on WINE, please let me know how it goes! I really want to make this game run on WINE, both for Linux and for Mac OS X. That's my current task in this project. The more testers we can get, the merrier. :D

A little correction: the OS X version cannot be native. Like the Web site explains, it'll be an .app created with Wine Bottler, an unofficial version of Wine on Mac. If you've heard of Furcadia, they do the same. They provide a "bottled" Wine prefix packaged as an .app, so that it will run independently of a Wine installation. Hence, no Wine installation would be necessary. I would like to try something similar on Linux in the future as well, but I'm not sure how possible that will be. We'll see.

Anyway, all I can say is, I really want SQ to support other systems. I've wanted this since forever, but being the game originally created with a Windows-only engine (programmed in VB6), native versions aren't possible; only workarounds. If only the engine had been written in a .NET version... we could use Mono. :o

A note to new players: You should keep in mind that, as a roguelike inspired game, there is not necessarily a set path to follow in SilverQuest. As a player, you choose to play the game as you please, and this is one of the best things about it. If, by any chance, you’re looking for a game with a linear storyline, perhaps SQ won’t meet your expectations. But, if knowing this, you still decide to stay anyway, we thank you greatly for it, and hope you really enjoy your time!
