If you would do research as I advised you will find numerous occasions where we talk about WHY. Ill try and summarise it in a short version for you - The state of the code for the first game was not in a state which could receive such features as a semi open world, Multiplayer, upgraded visuals without killing off performance, multiple story Shop AI navigation, just to name a few. We can not move forward as developers sticking to the first one without overhauling it from the ground up.
And no I am not saying SK 1 is missing things, it is not. It lacks polish which is not a bug, not a feature, it is things like better visuals, better UI. But it is a game that you play from start till however long you want, every single feature is working, everything promised included. Around a year after it was launched we supported it with hotfixes and free content at a financial loss. 2 full years AFTER it was fully launched we got new experience, grew as developers, increased the team and started making something far bigger than SK 1 ever was.
Once again - it was not abandoned, it was finished/complete. you do not say this to Blizz for making Diablo II or III, or the numerous other indie games that release sequels this year. I am open for discussion - but with facts.
Have a good day.
P.S. And again I direct you to Steamcommunity.com
Which is a FAQ we compiled just for people like yourself who do not like doing research or reading just a few words that already were posted and just want to spread misinformation to other people :)
