Honestly, I am not sure about this voting system. I´m not talking about the joice coming now in from Persia, it´s understandable that the guys are celebrating the rankings, but I have worked with Iranian game devs twice (before I left Germany and went back to the USA, now it´s out of the question).
Point is, they usually get massive public funding (even more than Canadians), and the state-run games funds / foundations have some control over the devs. It´s hard to tell who is really indie and who is not.

The list is not that bad. Surgeon Simulator is wonderful parody on all the crap "simulator" games swapping over from Germany. Pixel Piracy deals in fun - and is making a great job there. And, yes, Rogue Legacy has some unique gameplay.

But I understand why so many people complain about missing "Into the Dark" here. As B-movie trash game, it has establised its own genre. It comes with a full Romero masterpiece. It´s better and more authentic trash than any other similar approach (Blood Dragon). It shouldn´t be listed "as best game", but it deserves a special award.

The full version (especially with patch applied) is by far better, but I guess the demo will still hook some of my colleagues.

Awesome game. Almost perfect comedy experience with some really gruesome moments of horror. I like trashy self-ironic movies - and I LOVE "Into the Dark".

Met the Devs twice in Germany (GamesCom and Munich), and they are really as crazy as the game itseld.

However, the game rocks and my statement below is understatement compared to what I`ve seen in the public alpha level.

I still I can`t believe I have never heard of that game before. This is pure condensed triple-A-quality sneaking around the corner as humble indie game.

If you want to deal with a European publisher to get this one out, I can give you some contacts...

I had the same problem, but I read the readme and figured out to download the latest DirectX 9 (!!!) - although I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64x with latest DX11, it still needs DX 9.

This one did it for me:

What you have put up here as "Alpha" is by far more polished than many Triple A games on release. The quality of the game is not only "excellent" compared to indie games, it`s also excellent compared to 50-Euro-game created with millions of dollars of budget.
I have NEVER seen so good textures (holy ****, the floorwith the lions looks so awesome!!!) in an indoor scenario, and the lighting is so incredibly awesome I keep standing in the office room looking around.
I have also never seen a humor like this one incorporated in a game. It reminds me of the Evil Dead movies and Dogma alike.
The puzzle with the vent below the roof was a tough one first, but when I figured it out...

I would say that this masterpiece already surpasses all commercial horror games on all levels, however, I won`t stick to that because its another genre, another type of game - you can`t compare that.
It`s dark and creepy sometimes, but it has such a great 80ies humor and trashmovie remedies I would say you created something totally new at all.

This is the best gameplay experience I have seen for the last 2 years.
Tell me what you charge, I`ll pay it NOW if I get the game on release...
