Yes, Linux version is developed simultaneously as the Windows version. The first test release of the Linux Build is already released for those that has supported the developers with the Alphafunding program on Desura.

A new test build of 1.6.8 is hopefully finished on Sunday/Monday. The test builds is not a representable version of the stable build, because many things may change during the development. Note that the test builds will have a version number of 1.6.8.1->1.6.8.11->1.6.8.x, the stable release will still have the version number 1.6.8. The test releases are separate from the main branch releases.

Updated the description, so you can see the status of how many as applied for testing, how many that has been approved and how many that has been invited so far.

"Applications: 25
Approved applications: 25
Testers invited: 10
More testers to be invited in Q3!"

I also removed the EULA from the description to have more space for writing about the game itself.

If you sign up for testing, you have a chance to get the game for free. You will get access to the alpha, beta and of course final release, and all updates. Sign up here: Docs.google.com

In the future, we will release a demo (when the game nears completion). We don't want to rush things though. :)

New testers will be accepted in Q3.

Thanks for taking time to play and review the current released Alpha. And thank you very much for the suggestions! It helps a lot. A lot is being implemented for the 1.6.8 update. Including a sprint/run mechanic, many more items to be picked up. New monster mechanics, more creepiness. The adaptable and branching story arc will also be started to be implemented.

We will add gameplay instructions at the start of the game, to make the controls more obvious. Thanks for that tip. :)

And the reason the torch light wasn't showing, was that your graphics wasn't set too low. Recommenced settings are "Good" or higher. You can choose the settings with the Unity Launcher, when you start the game.

And if you want to test the new features as they are being added. You can use this link: Indiedb.com . That is where the test release will be rapidly updated, as new features are added and ready for testing. The new features will be tested and bugs will be fixed before the main update is released.

The test version is free, if you have bought the game, or if you have gotten an invite to test the game for free.

The description of the test release:
"This is a test release, us at own risk! If you want to test the newest (unstable) version as it is developed, you can use this version. However, it will have bugs, flaws and general instability."

Thanks again for the review.

I forgot to mentioned, that hardware acceleration, on the VirtualBox VM, was enabled, and all drivers were installed. And hardware virtualization extensions was also enabled, both on the host motherboard's bios, and on the VirtualBox VM.

I have thought of that. I have tried with VirtualBox, but the performance was not good. At my old workplace we used VMware ESXi, and I had very good performance there with Blender (Ubuntu). Going to try the VMware Player 5.0, if I have enough time before my vacation.

A save and pause meny are planned released in 1.6.8, the release after the terrain update. So far you need to press Alt+F4 to exit the game. The door's cant be opened, as they are in an inaccessible area. The only "door" that can be opened, is at the puzzle at the warehouse. A run function is also due to be implemented in 1.6.8.

Yes, all versions are included when you buy the alpha version. If you have bought the alpha, you will get access to the beta version when it's released, and the final release when that is released. In short term; buying the alpha (early access); you'll get the full version and access to test the game from alpha->beta->release. :)

It's part of the hallucination the main character has. All part of the experience, it is always looking at you, and that can creep the most of people out; when you know something is watching, but you don't know what it is, or how it got there. :)

Actually forgot to turn off v-sync, it was only a short performance test. Took about 2 hours to gather all the data and to analyze it. A more extensive test will to made before the beta release (v2.0.0). :)

All Linux distributions are applicable for beta testing, as long as they are supported by Unity3D, since Mint is based of Ubuntu, I would guess it will run well.
The goal is to explore the mountains, discover clues on what has happened there, experience the psychotic moments (random) your character have, solve puzzles, get rewards (batteries and clues, and more). Freak out.

I'ts hard to said, since it hasn't been analysed yet. It will be analysed before the demo release.
For some pointers, the development machine has these specs:

- Intel Core i5 2550K 3.40 Ghz
- 16 GiB DDR3 RAM (1600 Mhz)
- ATI Radeon HD 6850, with a resolution of 1650x1050
- Western Digital Black 3.5'' 1TB 7200 RPM
- The test build runs at about 120+ FPS with these specs

I don't know the specs of the other team member's computer. It's almost the same as mine I think, and it runs fluently there as well.

I also have a laptop with an Intel Core i3 processor with a Intel HD 4000 GPU, I will test the latest build with that machine and reply you with the updated data.

When testing the latetest build on the developer machine, it uses aprox. 300-400 MB of System Memory. The install EXE of the latest release is about 80 MB in size, compressed.

I hope this information has proven useful. :)

A demo will be released later in the development. We aim to release a demo when the beta development and testing, is about 70% complete. Currently we are working hard to get the game up from Alpha stage to Beta stage. :)
If you want you can track the game and follow it's development process. :)
