Just read your post in the Atheist group. I didn't have time to read all replies, as I don't have time for much on this site anymore. The answer to your worldview isn't nihilism, in fact what you describe isn't nihilism at all. Nihilism is the literal and absolute mindset of you not caring about anything, not the feeling of you being overwhelmed by existence.

I can appreciate your struggle to adapt to the mindset of an atheist as someone who was a theist their whole life, since you've essentially flipped your entire world view. Just be careful not to just go to the end of "well now that there is no god watching me I can do whatever" or "if there is no god then life really has no meaning, so I can do what I want."

No, you are still a human and are still capable of morality. Religion just likes to claim it has the monopoly on morality in that it was one of (if not the first) institutions to codify morality into text, this to me seems like a holdover of you being religious (ie you grew up thinking god made morality, now you realize there is no god so logically morality also shouldn't exist. It's an old religious argument which claims atheist can't be moral). But then again from an Atheist perspective, that morality had to come from a human since no god exists, therefore if ancient humans were capable of being moral, surely you are?

Furthermore just because you don't have the answer to something doesn't mean you have to go into a headspin of "I'm insignificant", this really has nothing to do with Atheism, but just a more skeptical mindset. Again to me this is just a holdover from you being religious, if you grew up believing that all answers came from a single book because that book was divinely inspired, and then realize there is no god... It's easy to then feel like you have no answers at all. Part of the skeptical mindset is just to realize you don't know everything, that's why scientists exist and why you have access to most research and can read up on stuff yourself.

I think ME3 was good up until the last 15 or 20 minutes. Certainly the entire ending was a bit anticlimactic but the last 15 minutes were particularly egregious. From a story perspective though, yes I agree. The story did end with ME3, Andromeda tried to kick start a new, separate storyline, but the open world elements just get in the way of them telling a good story. If the game was linear like ME1 I actually think it would've been a great game, just because they could focus on story and setting more and not making up random side quests or making terrain for mining nodes and such.

Unfortunately this isn't new information, we always knew that Muslims felt this way in Islamic countries. Now we just have proof that a group of these immigrants carry these beliefs from Islamic countries to western countries.

Shame how this type of information has to come from info wars, when this should be much larger news. This could have a very large impact on immigration policies.

it's precarious enough as it is. But if Le Pen wins in France (and she is leading in basically all polls currently from what I can see) then the EU will fall with France's departure. I don't see how it can stand with only Germany being the major power within it.

yeah that does kind of suck, I kind of cheated the system by doing Ruler Designer. You can give yorself pretty much every trait you want (ie Genius, Strong, Master Mage). And then just slap on lunatic, wounded, stressed etc. until you have yourself down to whatever age you want. Then when you start the game just use the magic system to remove lunatic, wounded etc. so you don't immediately die. Then wait until you get your 60 magicka and cast the immortality spell.

I guess this kind of breaks the whole idea of roleplaying, as this method is probably equivalent to just playing Skyrim and cheating all your skills to 100 immediately. But if you really wanted to you could limit yourself with just master mage and genius and go from there.

Yeah RTS seems to be a dead genre. I mean there's basically Starcraft and that's it. I haven't played it but there was also that game, 'Grey Goo' that came out recently, as Feillyne said.

Seems to me that 4x strategy games are much more popular, as well as TBS. Endless Space, Endless Legend, the Civilization games seem to be at the forefront. As well as Grand strategy like Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, etc. And i'm really looking forward to Stellaris.

Just look at the AGOT mod, they can't release a new version until Paradox fixes their event triggers (which were broken in the horse lords update). I haven't looked at CK2 modding at all but i would hazard a guess as to say it's the same situation with Elder Kings, in which case there is no way around it, Paradox just needs to fix their own code.

Yeah, i forgot to mention that if killing a lot of the animals would seriously damage the ecosystem then i dont agree. Like obviously killing endangered animals is a not a good thing to do. usually they have quotas for this reason i think.

As long as you use the corpse (ie for food, the pelt etc.) and its a clean kill, then i don't see a problem. Stuff like killing an elephant for the tusks and not using anything else i have a problem with, or wounding the animal and letting it die slowly.

Admiral-165 - - 2,217 comments @ Dragon's Dogma vs Dark Souls

Dark Souls for sure have a much richer lore. You can spend hours reading about all the stuff in game, and just experiencing Lordran. However if we're talking about Gameplay, Dark Souls (especially PC but not exclusively) has bad multiplayer to say the least. With all the hackers and such it kind of ruins it. Although it still can be very fun. Also the PC port of Dark Souls is very poor as well (with the super sensitive camera and such, but there are mods to fix it). I can definately see why you prefer Dragon's Dogma in terms of gameplay.

I actually didn't read the books. I thought it was fine though (if very predictable, oh he was really fighting the aliens for realz? WOAH didn't see that coming). TBH there wasn't enough character stuff for me to care. There the main guy, the girl, the douchebag who becomes a friend, etc.

I liked it because i love sci-fi in general, i can watch the cheesiest sci-fi **** and still like it (I watched all of Stargate SG1 in like 2 and a half weeks)... Not saying SG1 is cheesy, but lets be honest, the first couple seasons were pretty high on the cheese factor...

There are no good or bad choices in Witcher 2. There are some which are less bad than others lol. I personally always go with the elf guy (forgot his name, its been awhile), but he still kills innocents too. That's why i like the game, because it forces moral decisions upon you where its not just 'do you want to be good or evil' its 'if you choose the good choice more people will die, if you choose bad less people die'. Witcher is the perfect example of how video games make us think, and weigh moral choices.

lol yes Insanity is exactly right. "random ordinary religious folk", if by that you mean the Clergy that supported Hitler and Franco then... Yeah.

The socialists attacked clergy because they supported Franco, and by extension, Hitler.

Again, you don't care what Hitler says unless its about how he hates Christianity. You pick and choose what you listen to.

yes i did, that's why i asked you about a quote that was in the link lol. I'm not sure what you think i meant when i said "That link also claims..."

Yes i am aware that Hitler was anti-religious, and I also know that many Christians supported him. However those can be found in history books instead of the sketchy websites you linked.

I never said Hitler was Christian, it's very obvious he couldn't care either way. When he started persecuting Jews the Christians were happy to support him though.

As for what i was talking about (since you didn't understand me the first time ill link pictures now)

Check your sources, half of those don't cite anything.

1. Talking about religious schools being shut down alright.
2. The Soviets disliked the church for the same reason most catholics or others would dislike the vatican, they extorted the people. China disliked Christianity far before Mao came to power, it has to do with the fact that a bunch of foreigners came into their country, kept them down, and pushed their religion on them, its not different then the Natives in North America.
3. Pol Pot would kill people with glasses because he though they were intellectuals. We aren't talking about someone who thinks, we're talking about someone who acts. Claiming he was influenced by Atheism is laughable as he basically killed everyone he didn't like (not just religious people)

4. LMG was shut down after 1940 and churches reopened after the German invasion.

5. Yeah North Korea is bad to anything Western, this includes much more than Christianity. However, as your link says, this has to do more with the fact that they revere kim il sung, and not do with Atheism. Theyre persecuting christians because they are from the west, and that contradicts the teaching of kim il sung.

Finally, please read the article you linked last, I have a feeling that what theyre saying is the opposite of them essage you wanted to get across, but you didn't read what you linked.

Hitler's words which are 100% true when talking against Christianity but not true when he's in direct contradiction to what you say. Alright that seems fair.

That link also claims that Bolshevism is the creation of the christians and jews, which is of course nonsense since, as youve previously stated, communism is atheist.
