Hai! I'm thinking of writing a "development of" sorta blog about that one.

The final result is not really something that's interesting to play, it's just a mini tutorial level with a tiny campaign level and some enemies and a pistol. I rushed a lot because I needed to get it done before the competition deadline, and then I burned out soon after that lol

It does have some cool things though, like a Deus Ex-style dynamic music system.

There is no need to download HL SDK from Steam at all BTW. You really really don't need that one.

In order to change weapon stats, you need to build the code. Building the code is done in Visual Studio. You can get Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition (cuz' it's free), and Solokiller's Half-Life SDK, updated for VS2022, because the OG SDK is meant for Visual Studio 2010 at best.

Normally I never write anything, but this kinda intrigued me NGL.

So first off, I noticed a few technical issues:
- Thin gaps between buildings (increases VIS compile time and wpolys)
- The render distance is set to default, leaving some areas clipped behind, like the far-away buildings here: I.imgur.com
- The bicycle (?) has veeery sharp 90° turns, making it pretty nauseating for some people (not me personally, but it can surely happen)
- More gaps: I.imgur.com

I can list more than that, but I mean, this appears to be your first mod, so that stuff is something I'm certain you'll improve upon as you get used to working with brushes and all.

I was definitely surprised by the presence of autosaves. At some point, before encountering the GMan, there were a couple grunts before a staircase and I died to them, thinking "Aw hell, gotta restart the entire mod", but nope! Good thinking there. I like that.
(yes, I died to a couple grunts on easy, but TBF they threw a grenade which I somehow did not hear; skill issue on my end)

Only thing I really kinda mind are the very harsh transitions from one setting to another. Maybe some fading in and out with env_fade would've helped, or something like that - you get the idea.

I felt an odd sense of nostalgia playing through this mod. The brushwork & silly sequences reminded me of 13-year-old me just starting to mod Half-Life and all those vibes. Good stuff.

Lots of stuff can be done with the parenting feature, like simply attaching breakable parts to a moving and/or rotating thing, like trains or doors. I hope the team will make good use of it~

I think I've built myself a lil portfolio for a GoldSRC terrain artist. :3c

This whole map compiles well in under a minute, and there's at most 1000 wpolys on screen at once.
