Dear game makers,

We are a freshly founded game team who started with the development of a sci-fi 2D platform shooter, much like Megaman or Metroid, but we want to include new innovative game mechanics and an engaging story that will make it part of a series. It's intended for mobile phones (and possibly other platforms later).

Your role as Level Designer will be to utilize the core gameplay mechanics we have designed, and design levels, enemies and bosses that will fully challenge these options. There's going to be a skill tree based on energy points, so there will be a big strategic aspect. Overall we're looking for a new kind of experience that doesn't just revolve around jumping and fire-button spamming. Think of survival gunslinger feel with only limited ammo.

We're doing the project in Unity. Because we're starting from scratch, you have a lot of creative input, in fact, I expect you to give as much input as possible to make this one of the best games you've ever made. Take control of your career and show the world what you can do design-wise.

I’m looking for someone who can work on this project long-term. I’ve been part of several online projects in the past, but I noticed most fall apart because the people involved no longer have time due to work or school. In many of these online projects, most people don’t even know each other so it’s easier to leave the rest in the dust. For this reason, I want us to get to know each other, have regular meetings and make absolutely sure we have time to finish this game. I understand time-wise this will be second priority since there is no pay and would have to be done next to school or work, but passion-wise this should be first priority. This means that even if you have a job or so, I expect you to work on this at least a couple of hours every week, preferably an hour or two a day. I’m estimating the game will take 1-2 years to make, so the more we do from the start, the faster we will get the project published. If we finish this properly, this might just be the most important game of our careers.

If you want to join me in this quest, write me a message why you would be the best candidate for the job. It’s not important if you’ve never released a game professionally, the most important thing for me is passion and dedication, that I will know we will finish the project and that it’s going to be awesome. Feel free to ask me any questions.
