NOTE: The address listed is N/A. We are a fully-online team with no central headquarters at this time. Communication is mostly done via Slack (an instant messaging application) and Trello (an online project collaboration tool).
In this volunteer position you will be managing and coordinating the Level Design Department at Epoch Games , as well as leading in Level Design Meetings and assisting with interviewing new potential Level Designers. You must be able to spare a fair amount of hours to be online to communicate with the Level Design Team on a regular basis. Keep in mind that The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order (LoA:SO) is being developed in Epic Game’s Unreal Engine 4 (UE4); moderate knowledge of creating landscapes and building interior (based off concepts and layouts) is required.
Experience with Unreal Engine Blueprint Scripting (for creating scripts in UE4), Houdini (used for procedural tool development) as well as creating Heightmaps is optional, but is highly recommended.
The ability to communicate and organize other Level Designers is another key skill required in this position. It is key to a smooth and efficient pipeline, you must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other team-members outside of the department, such as our Artists, Animators, C++ Programmers, Blueprint Scripters and Writers. We are an English-speaking team, so English fluency is a must.
If you are comfortable with teaching, you may be called upon to aid the more junior members of the team in any relevant area.
Other duties include following team policies (given through team orientation as upon acceptance to the team) as well as attending meetings through Slack (our instant message program that we use to communicate)
This is a volunteer position, so no monetary compensation is being offered.
