Lead Game Engineer job

Our product and community first gaming studio is on the lookout for a Lead Game Engineer with exceptional talent, motivation and drive to aid us in producing the next sci-fi themed AAA blockchain game that will delight gamers from all across the spectrum.

PlanetQuest (https://planetquest.io/) is the first blockchain game to deliver a fully decentralized storyline. We make the community part of our story by allowing them to vote on major decisions that will evolve the plot and drastically impact the future of the PlanetQuest universe. Our game is only part of our offering - PlanetQuest is a cinematic multiverse which will expand to include merchandise, comics and TV series, amongst other things.

Our in-house developed Genesis Engine can procedurally generate intricate, unique, 3D planets directly in your browser. The Genesis Engine plays with all the little details that can differ between planets and uses that to create planets in full 3D that are completely distinct from one another, yet completely follow natural laws.

With a 180k strong discord community, backed by reputable investors and lead by a team with incredible experience (with members of Star Wars and Marvel cinematic fame), we are locked and loaded to push blockchain gaming to the next frontier.

What you will do

• Manage the development plan, schedule, and process for multiple simultaneous projects, including tasks, resources, quality, time, priorities, and costs;
• Establish engineering best practices that allow the team to achieve the assigned projects;
• Identify process improvement programs to gain efficiencies, cost or quality that impact multiple teams;
• Work with development teams and different partners (partner teams, product teams, users, etc) to refine requirements for development;
• Collaborate and manage partnerships with internal technical partners;
• Share knowledge internally. Apply lessons learned by other teams and align with our broader technology portfolio;
• Be the single contact for discipline at the project level, including working with essential external partners, i.e. Studio Tech and Tools, Ops, Platform teams;
• Manage people and career development for leads, ensuring there is craft leadership for the wider engineering team;

What we need you to have

• 3+ years in software development/engineering management positions;
• 5+ years in hands-on software development roles;
• You have developed and scaled test automation systems;
• You have gathered and refined use cases and turned them into requirements and designs;
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and knowing how to connect between the iterative-process and high-level programs and milestones;
• Broad knowledge of and experience with web and mobile game development;
