Did you know that some games on Desura would be on offer as part of the Because We May sale?

"For the last week of May (May 24 through June 1) our games will be deeply discounted to celebrate online stores that give us control over pricing: The App Store, Google Play, Steam, and a few others."

It came as a complete surprise to me, even after almost a full week of Because We May hype. :O

I wish Because We May were celebrating online stores like Desura (and Indievania) by actually naming them, and giving them a bit of well-deserved publicity. ;( (It's not like Apple, Google, or Valve are exactly starved of that)

* edit - I contacted Ron Carmel of 2dBoy (who is organising Because We May) about this, and it looks like they may change it - yippee

* edit #2 - yay! They changed it:

"For the last week of May (May 24 through June 1) our games will be deeply discounted to celebrate online stores that give us control over pricing: The App Store, Google Play, Steam, Desura, IndieVania, and a few others."

The Sun Is Deadly (Windows, 60% off, £0.49) is also on offer via IndieCity (not heard of this store before - probably all the more reason for Because We May to mention them!)

And Monster RPG 2 (Linux/Android, 50% off, $0.99) is available from Gameolith.

As well as the large amount of Windows & Mac Steam games, there is a ton of games that will be on offer straight from the developers (including a fair few Linux games).

It would be interesting to know which (if any) of these games bought directly from the developers come with Desura and/or Steam keys...?

Thanks for the head's up - I've added it to the list  8)

Btw, it looks like there's a pricing error on Three Dead Zed at Indievania - it's still $4.99, and says "Sale! Work on SiteError!"

That might be intentional - Super Office Stress has been priced at $99.99, and Cortex Command at $0.09, "because we may".

* edit - it is, see Indiedb.com

Frayed Knights looks really humorous ("The Ducky of Doom!").

So far, I've bought: Bean's Quest, Retention (Windows-only, but it looks very unique/interesting), Three Dead Zed, Scoregasm (I very kindly received a Desura copy after asking nicely), and the Binding of Isaac (on Steam). There's a couple of others I'm wanting to get, but I'm also considering the services of CASH 4 GAEMS this week.

Just a note: I'm constantly updating the first post, as games are still joining Because We May, so be sure to re-check it if you're lurking this thread. :)

Oh, and Desura posted a BWM news item here: Indiedb.com

Welcome! 8) We're a little group, but we've got big mouths. :D

I hope the sale picks up even more momentum!

Just been conversing on twitter with @qubegame, and the reason it's on offer on Steam but not here is because they... don't have time?

Hi, I'm afraid it's just far easier to sort a discount on steam when we're quite stretched for time. Apologies!

Is Desura really that awkward to deal with? That might be something they'll want to work on...

I've not heard that before, but it may be worth sending a message to The Management to ask/let them know.

I was wondering why games like Braid etc weren't on offer here, but they are on Steam. Especially since doing Steam-only sales is excluding any potential Linux customers for games that have ports, like Braid.

Looks like some of the deals are already over. I wanted to buy POP for a friend but it's back to normal price now. :(

Some of the Desura games still have a day left - guess they all used different timings. :|

POP is still pay what you want (minimum $1) at its website: Popme1.com - you could try contacting the dev (Rob Lach) at Twitter.com (or see his website Roblach.com for an email address), to ask nicely if he would give you a Desura key if you bought it direct.

I sent him an email. Here's hoping he can help.

Also the minimum is $2, which isn't bad for the game and the soundtrack.

Not sure if interesting and unique or just artsy either way I'll track this for now and try it over the summer.
My main concern at the moment is that it looks a bit too much like COD.
