A 2D RPG about killing survivors... no wait, and zombies. 2D turn-based RPG inspired by the classic RPGs of the NES era. It's the game I have always wanted to play but didn't exist, so here we are. Development has started and most of the core systems are already programmed and in place. There are a lot of good RPG features already in the prototype, all of which will be making an appearance in the final version of the game. Here is a sneak peek under the hood: classic turn based battle system, character leveling system, equipment leveling system, factions, good and evil event options, item crafting, weapon crafting, armor crafting, recruit other survivors to be in your party, dismiss or kill unwanted party members, more to come… I am waiting for final art before posting gameplay videos and screenshots. Here is an early look at a battle stage prototype. In our game battles occur similar to how they did in early NES JRPGs like Final Fantasy. Enemy encounters happen randomly while on the world stage or at specific game locations such as towns. I have decided to build the battle stage a little differently than most of these games though, as you can see in the image above. I am foregoing setting up the battle stage as a complete scene with background art, etc for several reasons. The first is that I like the way my current setup looks and the things I can do with it and secondly it will save me around $5,000 worth of background art that isn’t really necessary.
