WizardWizard Dev Log #12
So I've seen a lot of different Development Logs with people talking about the tools they used so I thought I'd share mine.
Graphics
For all my pixel art I used Graphics Gale. Link here: Humanbalance.net
Graphics Gale was programmed with the purpose of pixel art and pixel art animation. It's also free. I use Graphics Gale because it's only a few megabytes, it loads in an instant and its very intuitive in terms of interface, controls, navigation and animation.
This is me using Graphics Gale (not for wizardwizard)
SFX
For all my 8bit sound effects I use as3sfxr Link here: Superflashbros.net
As3sfxr is awesome, it's free, it's opensource and it's in browser. It's great for people with no experience (like me) with audio but also very flexible for people who know what they're doing.

Music
All the main music in WizardWizard is done by _TWC who is a musical genius. I'm pretty sure he used Garage Band. Link to works here: Soundcloud.com If you're after music, Reddit is a good place to locate stuff that's creative-commons but also sounds totally killer. Especially chip tunes.
The boss music is bits of _TWC's songs hacked up and slowed down. It was an incredibly painful process because it sounded so good before I got my hands on it, but it had to be done.
The credits music is a piece by a school mate of mine, Nathan Gill which he composed and I ran it through a 16 bit midi converter.
Engine
I develop in Game Maker Studio, it's always updated, its pretty inexpensive, and without it I wouldn't be making anything. Game Maker is easy to pick up and learn, you can learn all the programming I can do in a week. The Game Maker community is awesome and super quick to help with any problems or questions. It also exports to everything (if you have the cash)
The WizardWizard engine uses an (no longer supported) engine by Matt Thorson for its foundation. That guy is a genius with in game collisions and allows for pixel perfect everything.
You don't know how to take screenshots?
Photos are more personal :)
You should deliver copies of the game through post on floppy discs :)
Hahha, just for you :P
this music have copyright, right? nice job ^^
_TWC made a list of his songs free for the public to use in their games. Reddit.com :)
ooooh thanks ^^
