Hey guys,

Just to pull out some frequently sort after info I'll throw this thread up for you to grab info and quick reference things you need.
The game is in an open Alpha state, however we wish to inform you not to spread the links out in public too much. We love our current dedicated testers who are active here on this board and it helps to focus on major bugs with a smaller collective of people to help test it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Controls:

  • Click the text "Display Proximity Chat to open/Close chat in top left corner. You can also push TAB to open and select the chat box
  • At any given time you can push ESC to focus or unfocus your mouse from your character.
  • Land: W,A,S,D to move, Space to jump, Shift to Sprint as Elf, M also opens flower menu, Scroll Wheel to Zoom, other controls to come.
  • Flight & Swim: The character will follow your mouse pointer for direction, W will speed up, S will slow down (holding for longer will make swimmers float on the spot.
  • Griffon: To take off with the Griffon double tap the Space Bar, While in flight: Use Space Bar to glide (Wings Spread Wide No Flap) and Dive (Pick up speed) with the Shift Key
  • Creature Powers: Currently will/are set to 1,2,3 etc

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Downloading the File and Keeping up to Date:

The links you have been given to the Alpha testing for Wander will be updated with new version each couple of days as the devs will make repairs and add features in. Please check the link each day and see when the "Date Modified" changes just so you will be up to the latest build. The description often tells you what has changed in the build as well. There is a version for Windows, Mac and a debug version. The standard versions will be updated regularly otherwise Loki will inform you when a new Debugger comes out.

BlackWulf wrote: If you want to double check that you have the newest version click on the download link above and the version description is on the far right side of the screen. Your current version is listed as part of the name of the executable file ie : wander alpha15 windows\wander_alpha15_win.exe

What should you test in this stage of the alpha:

  • try find each of the character unlocks, there are 3 in the alpha: Elf, Griffin and Azartash
  • try to find where a shelter is, in case there is a storm
  • try and find one of the flowers and pick it
  • fly and swim somewhere
  • look at the Waterfalls, Ruins, Buildings, Caves etc
  • chat to other players
  • Try to complete Fly Challenge, Swim Challenge any other Quests listed here: Mini Quests
  • Explore the floating island and its secrets.
  • Check functionality, gameplay and features and report any bugs you find!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Could you please put the links for each of the downloads here in this thread? I think there's some confusion of how to find the right link (eg: mac, win, debug) and where!

Mar 22 2013 Anchor

Latest versions are always at these links:
Mac: Docs.google.com
Windows normal: Tiny.cc
Linux: Docs.google.com

Any chance you've got the system reqs anywhere? I can't seem to find them around here and am wondering if that's why I can't get the game to open (perpetually "quits unexpectedly" before it's even begun to open). Please and thank you!

edit: found them. Cross posting in case others have the same difficulty I did (and really, these seem like a FAQ thing to me, rather than a "what do you want in Wander" thing :) ) And of course, if anything has changed I'd love to know!

If you're having crashing on startup issues it's worth checking if you've got the latest driver version:

From nvidia: Nvidia.com
AMD (Previously ATI): Support.amd.com
Intel:

Mine starts up fine but when I go to quit ou of the program, it hangs and I have to force quit. I'm on a macbook running 10.6.8 - wondering if a system software update would solve the problem.

Are we allowed to post pics? If so, how? I have tried all embedded codes, and URL, and cannot get pic to stay.

Apr 7 2013 Anchor

Im4noles2 : Can you please post how you got the images to work, so everyone can post images? Thanks!

Apr 7 2013 Anchor

Sure! :)

1. Click your screen name at the top to view your profile
2. Click Media/Latest Screens
3. Click the plus (+) sign (add media)
4. Under Images, Browse your computer for the pic
5. Only takes a second for the upload, then Entertainment is default
6. Add your name (required)
7. Description (optional)
8. Save Media
9. Mouse over your pic, on the upper right is the embed code
10. Click copy code (Copy to clipboard) (I always right click the highlighted text and copy manually)
11. In forum, click picture of tree (next to film strip/smiley) insert/edit image
12 A small window will open to the default cursor on embed code
13. Paste your code there
14. Click Preview, then Insert
15. The pic will show up here..... im4noles2

2nd way to upload media/pics:

Go to your profile, look under your name where it says summary, blogs, comments, friends...etc...all the way over to the last one...it says images. Scroll down to the lower right, where it says "Options" then, URL, Embed (big).....for a big picture in the forum, use this code; Embed (small pic in the forum); Share, then ADD MEDIA..... UPLOAD NOW...click on that. You will go to another page that says, Add images to Gallery. Choose file, Entertainment (default) then remember to add your member name, so it will go into your gallery. Add a description if you want, then Save Media. Then go to your profile, find the pic in your gallery, copy embed code, and you can actually paste directly into your post.

For Flickr Code: Thanks Piece!!

Embed code is in bottom right panel "Options" when you have uploaded media.

All the images I post I tend to use imageshack, there i can get a direct link to a photo. Then using the lil portrait (tree) button on the panel and I can put the link in "or image url" to link my images in. Making sure my images are no wider than 600px otherwise it will stretch the forum.

Noles's guide works well too! :D You can keep your own gallery here on indiedb of all of the games youve been apart of.
