In Vanguard: Normandy 1944 players fight to survive in hardcore multiplayer combat for historic D-Day objectives on real battlefields.

Report RSS State of the Game III

The past year has been a successful one for the development of the game. In recent months the team has been working on what we have dubbed ‘Overltord-lite’, a simplified version of OVERLORD in order to focus our energy on pushing a few core parts of the game more rapidly towards completion instead of many parts more slowly. As a result, we are starting to really see how much of the game has been done rather than how much is still left to do!

With 2016 behind us and 2017 stretching out ahead it's a time to sit back and reflect on the last year for the team and the project.

This approach has also proved very successful with our development programme. Over the last 3 months, our timetable has only slipped by a week (very recently) as we inadvertently forgot to include Christmas in our calculations… whoops!

Over the coming months, we will be continuing our work on ‘Overlord-lite’ before embarking on the next (and very exciting) stage for the game.

We know you have all been asking for more gameplay content for a while. Part of the reason for our reluctance to show you is that we've never been happy with the German character model - it's been horribly out of date for a long time and (in our view) ruins just about any screenshot which it is in. Fortunately, this is soon to change thanks to the amazing work by [TWDEV] volcol who also did our updated British Character last year.

Switch to HD mode to see the textures in their full detail

The new model is not yet rigged up in-game but we can't wait to get it into CRYENGINE and onto the battlefield.

Nice, but please add some camo clothes. It would be epic if the player can choose what camo he wear. For exmaple field grey uniform and helmcamo in Splittertarn for Wehrmacht. Or Uniform and trouser in Erbsentarn and Fieldcap in grey for Waffen-SS. They was a lot of improvement, especially in the late war phase from 44.

Perfect. As a collector/reenactor I can only say the helmet shape is only minimally a bit off. Even so, it's minor. Great work!
