Wolfpack Designs, the developers of the Crysis total conversion, The Creation: Aude Sapere, has dropped development of The Creation, for a much more exciting project. Wolfpack Designs is now working as a branch of the Indie Game Studio Miriscus Interactive, the makers of the Jurassic Park game. We are now working on a brand new Intellectual property called Type 3, which will be on the Maoli engine, made by Miriscus Interactive and Wolfpack Designs.

The official announcement from Miriscus Interactive:

Linked Forces
Today I am proud to announce that the team in charge of the long awaited Crysis mod ‘The Creation’, have agreed upon settling in with Miriscus Interactive. As a newly formed subdivision of the company, they will be working on a independent game based off their own IP. The game, Type 3, is an FPS RPG with a psycho-mystery thriller storyline, and is set in an open-world/level-based hybrid sci-fi universe. The game will bring up and tackle sensitive issues affecting modern society, and try to take the first steps towards making video games art. The team in charge of creating this game is fully capable of the operation. The group is also a very enthusiastic and hardworking one, fiercely determined on their goals. The game will be run on Miriscus Interactive’s own engine, Maoli (courtesy from our brilliant programmer Nate Orr). Miriscus Interactive is now working on several projects, all with the mandatory requirement of a high quality product. I wish the Wolfpack Designs team luck, and also give them a warm welcome to Miriscus Interactive.

From now until we have in-game footage available, we will gain a wide base of people who look forward to the game.

We will consistently reveal assets and concept art that will make their way into the game, ideas for gameplay systems, music, bits of the story, stuff like that.

so basically you admit that you have nothing yet you do wish to get a community. i kinda miss the point in that, unless you are aiming for some sort of revenue(LOL) already (i dont think anyone would try community ideas with such a concept).

youve seen stalker/doom3/ut3/etc i assume. then you should know what normally happens to all them mighty fine ideas.

so let me repeat myself in a more defined way: this will be a game that, judging by description, will stand or fall mostly due to its game mechanics, story and world.
what good is such an early release for such a complex game idea? do you want to try implementing community ideas? are you conscious of how much time and resources this game might consume?

tl;dr dont bite off more than you can chew

ps didnt aim for offence, probably more honesty than harshness here.

Our team has been together for almost a year, and we have about 20 people. The team is growing every day, and we have an animator who now works as a junior animator for Crytek, and our head modeler does work for Lucas Arts.

We know exactly what we are getting into. No, I said nothing about implementing community ideas. All our concepts and ideas will come from the team.

Also, the entire indie company consists of nearly 40 people.

I never admitted to having 'nothing', this is actually how many big-name companies start out. Well, most of them, anyways.

We also have a very good engine that is in the works. It's been in production for over a year, and is already very impressive. It's called the Maoli engine.

And I don't see how showing assets at this stage in development is abnormal, since that is what almost every other mod or indie project does. We were actually further then most projects at announcement, since we have the majority of our engine completed.
The purpose:
Announcing gives a community, and a community gives members drive.
Announcing allows it to be much easier to find new members, since there is a good portfolio for the project right here on moddb.
Also, announcing does give the game, in the end, a wider spread of people who know about the project.

We're not an inexperienced team, we know what we are getting into, and we're all serious modders. Trust me, we see the line, and we will not step over it.
We've been working with each other for a long time on other projects, and have been successful thus far.
We're expecting somewhere in the realm of 2 years, maybe more. The game won't be huge, we know our limits. And we are willing to spend these next 2 years on this project, because we do enjoy the work we do, and would gladly put in the effort to create something others will enjoy. :)

No need for hostilities, friend. :)
