As the civil war waged in a small Eastern European country for the past two years, it is becoming harder and harder to survive in the war zone. Most citizens have fled, but many are stranded deep with little food, water and medication to survive on, let alone having money to pay for a way out.

WARZONE is a single player top down 3D shooter which puts player in the midst of waging war, as a journalist who ventured into the war zone to find the truth behind the atrocity. Along the way player will meet other civilians and combatants alike, and may choose to help or fight against them. Some will join player's party, and some will attack player on sight, its all up to the player to make the best decision.

WARZONE will feature pausable real time combat with modern firearms. As untrained civilians, player must outwit the enemies with tactics, and being able to pause in the middle of heated firefight allows player time to think it through. In addition, as each character in player's party get more experienced, their combat skill will also improve.

Have you ever played Take No Prisoners by Ravensoft - if your game comes close to this I will buy the sh1t out of it. It is worth a playthrough if you are developing a top down game and you can get free demos online and install them on an XP Virtual Machine

hey there! Thank you for checking out this game. I went to look at some videos of Take No Prisoners, it looks like a twin stick shooter which my game is not. It's an RPG with tactical elements. Hope I didn't disappoint you or anything!

ha - No disappointment at all mate I wish you the best. TNP is actually a bit tactical (came out before twin stick controllers were about :) ) with lots of ingame story - more than just shooting. Your game just reminded me of it with the top down perspective and I'm going to keep my eye on this one as it develops.

This game likes quite good! Cool how you can 'pause' time to make tactical moves.
Just I think it appears it the video that enemies seem to have too much health. This might be intentional, or maybe the bullets are missing a lot, but that battle between 5 people seemed to take a bit too long.
Anyway, it does look pretty cool though!

Good catch! Yes it's intentional for now :) I have a dilemma though, wanted to hear your opinion! So since it's an RPG not a shooter, there's inaccuracy dice rolls so sometimes the bullet hits count as miss. Also, as an RPG there will be different total HP, and bullet sponges will be inevitable (I don't like bullet sponges but it's a necessary evil for any RPG). How do you feel about displaying damage dealt on top of the enemy's head (like many JRPG as well as Borderlands) after each successful shot?

Yes that does sound better, as you could prioritise depending on the weaker enemy.
If you could somehow visibly see damage dealt over total health. You could have a health bar above their heads, or different animations depending on current health (Like a stutter when injured).
The random miss is a good feature for realism and all, and having bullet sponges are good challenges, but not all, or even most, should be.
Hope I can help in anyway.
