That was neither wrong nor rude. I completely agree. This texture looks horrible in every way. Come on, you can do a lot better than that

I think the slide and the barrel look good except for the hole at the end being too small.

But the handle and trigger guard are just too blocky still. I know Mobster will throw a fit if you add polys to it, but it needs to happen.

As far the texture goes, the one on the right just needs to be lighter I think. I don't know what to suggest for the one on the left, but it definitely doesn't resemble a golden desert eagle very well.

I think it looks a little too pale, change the contrast?

a dyke? do you know the term of a dyke? thanks for all the lovely flaim outs guys...i give up, if you want the gun to look like that, enjoy it looking ******, all im doing is helping. your obviously not getting my point..i'm not out to be a "douchebag." tough love is the best love...i learned it that way from others. if you just say "hey, its good! i like it." he'll never improve..he needs to know whats going on around him...like i'v said.

I think everyone's main point Dylan, is that he also cannot improve if you say "it sucks fix it". You gotta be specific. You don't need to be a texture artist to say "the handle grip texture is a bit low res" or something constructive. I think that's what everyone is trying to get at.

As for my example, its true, the resolution for the grip on the handle is a bit low. And to be honest it will be covered up by the hands. Other than that i think it looks good for a first texture.

I honestly was about to go ape-**** for a second
if you look closely, the front of the barrel is clearly lighter than the part on top of the trigger guard,
this indicates a texture being overlayed onto the blank greyness, which explains for the paleness of the the wooden guard...
but
I saw some similarities between this, and MY COLT TEXTURE FOR NAZI ZOMBIES PORTABLE, then I took a closer look, and although there are some similarities, there are also some subtle differences.
I don't know, but something about this texture makes me think it's overlayed with something else
maybe because everyone knows deagles don't have wooden grips... that are faded -_-

but something makes me think it's my texture o.O, maybe it's my old colt texture... I'm not sure.

Rest assured, I have never ripped a texture nor will I ever rip a texture for such a purpose. This is all original, albeit obviously bad, work. Entirely made from scratch. If you wish I could even show you the XCF-File with the two million layers.

Aaand to add to the topic:
I am not a texture artist by any means. I suck at it, that's why. I don't like to make textures either. Which is why I am so bad. I joined this dev team because I liked - and still like - to make 3D models. I only made the texture because there was nobody else to do it. I know it's below our standards, but that's all I can give.

Pretty much just this. With many a change in the modeling and my first and hopefully last weapon texture.

Emphasis on the first.
