thanks for the feedback, ill arrange something so you can talk to rushshot whenever he shows up again, I like your work, and I would like to take you up on your offer to give Rush some tips, that would be great!
anyways, what is this baked ambient occlusion ****? (yes, I do know what it is :P ) but you make it sound so fancy, it's called drawing light spots and dark spots on the texture xD
Well the renderer does that. IT could be done by hand but by no means would it be 100% correct unless the texture artist had a firm grasp on exactly how light bounces around on a surface. People can replicate it well but not as well as a machine.
ahh, but you see, for the machine to replicate it realistically, you would need a high poly model, this is where the human ability to visualize wins ;)
thats because thats the part of the gun ingame you will see the least of. when making low poly models, you think in terms of does it's silhouette look good, not is it too blocky.
uhh nice!
my fave :D
VERY nice, but a bit plain, focus on adding gritty detail to the guns ;)
also, adding some shadows to it turn the realistic look up A SHITLOAD ;)

A baked ambient occlusion map would be nice, but not rust and grime. If that were my gun I'd be cleaning it all the time. Even if only with my shirt.
omg lemme animate
Damn..that is awesome!
Looks great!
well, not when you're being chased by zombies xD

oops, this was supposed to be a reply xalener above :P

Hmm, nice picture for a WIP :|
"DEMO XSI"...
What?
The bottom part of the gun looks a bit blocky.
