Tiberian Sun: Reborn brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've remained loyal to the style and feel of the 1999 classic, while integrating content from its expansion Firestorm with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3D engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game. Oh, and did we mention it's FREE?

Post news Report RSS Reborn: Rooms, Robots, Rosters, Ranks

Tiberian Sun Reborn will feature a revised infantry listing, and each class can achieve veterancy status to fill a niche battlefield role. Find out who made the cut. Plus? New civilian assets to decorate the landscape, and little robots to lurk the battlefield.

New Rooms

A prominent landscape feature in Tiberian Sun was the ubiquitous Port-A-Shack, alongside other signs of civilization trying to hold on while cities either fell apart from constant warfare, or were abandoned due to tiberium encroachment. We hope to capture some of that atmosphere with contemporary shacks, outposts, shelters, and underground dwellings that you'd see dotting the Tiberian Sun landscape. Guy With A Wrench is working on these.

Roaming Robots

Limpet Drones will be making an appearance. They will act as remotely-operated all-terrain scout sensor vehicles, similar to their operation in Tiberian Sun. To use them, you will need to access controls in your team's Radar facility. This will be similar to how RA2:Apocalypse Rising handles its Terror Drones, in that you are not 'driving' the vehicle and thus are in no personal danger if it dies. Hunter-Seeker Drones will behave in a similar fashion, although they will be controlled remotely via another set of controls. This is being done in lieu of TS styled automatic target seeking; the random aspect doesn't work well in the FPS context and does not promote teamwork.

It's worth noting that superweapons, when we get to that subject later on, will also be controlled via a set of terminals in your team's base; we're experimenting with not using the "beacon" style system anymore, which required you to physically enter the enemy base. This will also mean superweapons can be used to strike an enemy vehicle force defensively (or offensively, in advance of your own attacks).

New Rosters & Ranks

Some fans were disappointed with a few of the infantry classes and roles in the 2008 C&C Reborn release. We realize the need for change, and happily oblige. Tiberian Sun Reborn will feature a trimmed list of classes, each of which can achieve veterancy status to focus on a battlefield niche. These are all subject to change as we rebalance things.

Of course, this is all subject to change as we've said. Vehicles will also support veterancy, which is earned from performing well in combat. Veteran units will allow you to use "lower tier" equipment with increased efficiency, so you can basically focus in on a few units each round and use them reliably once tougher enemies show up on the scene. Instead of buying an expensive high-tech plasma-shooting Confessor, for example, you may choose to use a lower-tech Veteran or Elite Rocker Soldier to respond to enemy ground/air vehicle threats.

Oh man, the nostalgia, now if only it was possible to make a mutant faction and possibly even a tiberium creature faction (or even adding it as a neutral variable in the battles)I would be so very happy. But you've already done so much that's so great, I don't want to be burden.

I thought this was suppose to be C&C Tiberian Sun? So why do I see I 'Confessor' etc which if I'm not mistaken are C&C3? :/

Uhm, NOD seems to always have had them. The fact that they only appeared in CNC3 as a unit doesnt mean that they only existed in that timeline.

But I thought this was suppose to C&C Tiberian Sun but in Renegade, like how RA:APB is Red Alert 1 etc. So why are they including units that weren't in the game? I don't think its fits tbh :/

After very careful deliberation, a decision was made to allow Nod to keep the higher-tier plasma-shooting footsoldier they had in earlier releases (with minor redesigns). This will allow them to fend off heavily armored GDI units when their single final-tier Cyborg Commando is unavailable. Otherwise, they would need several veteran Rocket Soldiers available. He's been renamed the Confessor instead of his old name, Kerubim.

I always thought that the limpet drone would work best as a mine carried by infantry. Taking one player out of the field in order to plant a mine that slows vehicles didnt seem like quite a fair trade. But I definetly want to see how it will work now, there is alot of potential for that thing.
