Thanks - I've got it running now.
Looks like it's going to need to some more patching a long the way but a pretty supreme effort considering this was made by just two people with nearly no support.
In contrast to the many other platformers released over the past two years this is one of the better ones considering the open-ended way you can short-cut your way through levels using different abilities and the RPG-like thing going on with weapons and skills.
I've grown tired of other current platformers because they tend to focuse mostly one concept (and it always seems to be telekenisis). For instance as pretty and polished as "BeatBuddy": the environments don't change very much and getting through the levels all require strict applicaiton of the main gimmick.
With Tompi I've noticed much more non-linearity like wall jumping to a higher level rather than using the provided and suggested springboard in front of you. Offers a lot more for speed runners to work with.
The two main bugs I'm hitting right now are the hat propeller not working at the point where it's first introduced (this seems to happen if you stop and hesitate reading the sign demonsrating how to use the hat properller) and also losing two lives if you fall in a spike pit becaue the first respawn places you immediately back in the spikes before the game realizes it should respawn you back on solid ground before the pit you fell in.
Uh....new DRM has locked me out the game?
There's no option to log into the account I created originally. It only asks me to go through the entire registration process again and claims there already exists an account with my credentials...
Any game that has me in the end-credits i like :-D
It looks like a donkey kong country returns, wait a minute, it's the same.
Hi, yes, Donkey Kong country returns is an inspiration title for us. A good game!. But, also, we incorporated another fun and original elements of platform games. We hope you enjoy the game!.
Just checking back to see how Tompi is going. Still have high hopes from the working bits I've played.
Hello Carnival73. Within days, Version 1.0 will be ready. Unfortunately, due to the failed crowdfunding campaign, the multiplayer option will disappear for lack of technical means to complete and test it. In "Tompi Jones 2", if we can distribute well "Tompi Jones", we will include the multiplayer mode.
That's perfectly fine..from the bit I played of Tompi, when I had it installed last year, I think a second simeatanious player would slow me down. TBH I didn't even realize you had planned for a second player - Unless you were going to do like the old NES games where the game turned over player two's turn each time you lost a life.
Hi, I got Tompi running after upgrading my computer recently. It looks like you've put a lot of time and effort into this and there are many long stages (i walked all the way back to the castle to see how long the game goes on for).
But I'm wondering if you are going to pick up working on this game again to polish it over to a final release or if you have abandoned the project?
Hello, the project is ongoing. We're back to work on it for a few weeks. Today we show the new levels of the jungle which will in the next update.
Few months we have been working on another project (Breakout Invaders) to get funding. Tompi Jones was distributed in the Indie Face Kick 2 Bundle, but turned out to be a fraud and any developer have taken money from the games that were sold. We have had to prepare another casual game in order to finance "Tompi Jones".
Wow, that's so disappointing that you guys got screwed by Indie Face Kick. I hope you guys are able to recover. It seems you weren't the only ones were the victims of that scam: Original-gamer.com
Has anyone taken legal action? Have you guys tried to get any gaming websites (perhaps Rock Paper Shotgun or something) to cover this fraud? Or even just a post on Reddit or something? Maybe if it got some coverage, you could leverage that into some sort of compensation.
As someone who bought the IFK bundles, I have not recieved my physical USB Drive that was promised for paying X dollars. The guy who ran it blocked me after I asked him about it. It was posted on Reddit once but besides that, nothing.
I am all for taking further actions to get the money. It is funny because while he used excuse after excuse, he was playing new AAA titles all the time.
