Making content for game is always hard and time consuming. During development of Tile Rider, maybe 30-40% of all time we spent creating levels, thanks to our level editor it was not very hard, but still takes a lot of time. We start thinking how can we introduce some automation in this process. Fortunately, we decided to attend Game/Ai Conference in Vienna in 2014 (thanks to Aigamedev.com for organizing such useful events). There was a great presentation by Daniel Brewer from Digital Extremes about Ai in Warframe in general, and about level generating particularly. We were so inspired by this ideas, that spent the whole next coffee pause (and maybe half of the next presentation:-)) thinking about how can we implement level generator in our Tile Rider. The core idea is actually pretty simple: make level presets and then combine them into one big level. So here some early results of our level generator prototype.
Input: 4 basic presets (plus 1 start point and 1 end point).
