The Protectors of Etheria is a stand-alone mod of the game Warlords Battlecry 3 (i.e. it can be run without having the original game installed - 100% free full game). It is an improved RTS/RPG game with new campaigns, quests, terrain, units, items, heroes, modding features and more. Beta versions available for download!
Description
Other than fixing a lot of bugs such as the grid-appearing crash, the lag inducing debug mode, hero avatar level up bug, free skills using hotkeys and more, this patch balances the races further (fey, undead) and the perks and spells. As for new stuff, we brought 3 new units into TPC: the Chaos Dragon, the Blue Mage and the Frost Bat (credits to Kharn), chapter 2 has a intro movie, reworked items (credits to Zultak) and conversion and psychological radius now appear on the battle for all units when pressing r (toggle). A great deal of work was invested in improving the .nis capabilities. Full changelog is included in the pack.

Could you provide a manual-install version? I'm on Linux (WB3 runs flawlessly on Wine) and your installer is crashing. I'm sure once installed it will work, so if you just provided the raw archive, I could do figure it out manually.

Also, I will look into the installer options and see what might cause the problem. If fixing that fails, then future releases will have the raw archive variant as well.

Yes.
Every patch must be applied in order. Start with the full version (0.7) then apply all patches consecutively (0.7.1 and 0.7.2)
Also, when newer versions are released, are we able to use the same heroes? Or do we need to create new ones?
There is a WARNING when that is the case. Generally speaking, when the hero system is modified, heroes need to be reset (skirmish and chapter ones). I can say that 0.7.3 will be this case so don't get too attached to your heroes (yet!), however, not all patches will have this unfortunate effect.
