Even in its early days, Althas has been a land shaken by conflicts. In the early days, these conflicts pitted the Anointed Kingdoms of Men against the dark and demonic forces that threatened them. However, with the passage of time the world has changed. With the Anointed order eroding away and new powers rising, another war looms on the horizon, a war brought on by Man's own actions. Thenodar, a burgeoning new kingdom in the North, and Anorthile, one of the last of the three remaining Anointed Kingdoms, now prepare for a war that will shake all of Althas. Old demons and new enemies gather in the shadows of both lands as each sets their sights on the ruined wilderness known as the Feralands.

Very nice. You won't go overboard with silly high-tier designs, right?
In a lot of RPGs I barely want to use the better weapons and armor because they just look too weird.

This is the most basic sword in the Thenodrim lineup. There will be more ornate designs in some areas of course. But our art direction isn't the type to go insane with the crazy designs. There will be armors with more flare, especially ancient sets, but they will be rare loot.

Would be nice for all the weapons and armor to still be practically usable which unfortunately cannot be said about most of the weapons in most rpgs :( I guess the most common and easiest way that most swords were made nice and expensive in real life was to add jewels and other decoration to the hilt but that could be somewhat dull for most people in a game.

Haha, ornate is not a problem, I was more referring to things like giant glowing crystal spikes on pauldrons.
Nice to hear that you won't do such things, though I'd already halfway expected that because by now we know you aim for a more realistic medieval look. ;)

@Brotapfelinhalierer: No worries, I feel the same way you do about weapons and armor in fantasy games. Functionality is an important focus in our art style.

That is a main portion of why I am excited for LoA. Also how much longer until we see an ingame video or something? Back during the days of MERP some of you were planning on doing podcasts so will you revive that idea at some point?
I wish that C&D hadn't gotten in the way of MERP's development:( but for the first time since Althas's announcement I am actually considering the possibility of Althas living up to what MERP was going to be. Which more or less means I can't wait for more updates and eventually a completed game :D

Nope, we're definitely NOT having that sort of thing :P The most "crazy" our designs will get might sort of border on Skyrim-level. WoW-ish MMO-type over-the-board designs are not going to appear.
@ElfFriend, patience. Good things come to those who wait. We've had the idea of podcasts, but those probably won't take place until we're further in development, if we revive them.
