The story so far:
About a week ago, The Ingenious Machine was reviewed on page 84 of Alaska Airlines Horizon Edition Magazine.
Less than a month earlier, the same app became a finalist in the Microsoft Beautiful Game Awards.
A month before that, the game was a featured app on the Windows Phone store in a dozen territories.
Meanwhile, the New and Improved Edition that was released for PC/MacOS only sold three units on Desura, and the Steam Greenlight campaign stopped dead a long time ago.
The moral of this story:
No-one wants to play The Ingenious Machine on a desktop computer, but people like it as a mobile game.
So as a “thank you” to everyone who supported the mobile version, I’m releasing the New and Improved Edition for all mobile platforms. This will be released as a free update to existing users.
If you have already bought the game, you will receive a free update that doubles the number of levels, adds new gadget types to play with, fixes quite a few bugs, and improves the graphics and audio. The original PC trailer (shown below) demonstrates the new features that have been integrated into the mobile versions:
If you haven’t already bought it, you can download it for one dollar (with no micro-transactions) from these locations:
- App Store: Itunes.apple.com
- Google Play: Play.google.com
- Amazon Fire: Amazon.com
- Windows Phone: Windowsphone.com
This update does not apply to the free version of the game. The Windows Phone trial version and the Amazon free version will not receive the upgrade. I have also discontinued the Windows Store version of the game since no one bought it.
If you are an Android, Amazon, or Windows Phone user, the update for the New and Improved Edition is already available. iOS users will receive the update by October 20th 2014.
