A medieval action/adventure video game that is NOT a legend.

Post news Report RSS Behold what I wasted seven years of my life on

So, I've finally completed a demo of The Ditty of Carmeana, a 3D action-adventure video game parody. I began writing it seven years ago, and plugged away at it for seven years, and ended up with a short demo of the first level. Sad and awe-inspiring at the same time, isn't it?

So, I've finally completed a demo of The Ditty of Carmeana, a 3D action-adventure video game parody. I began writing it seven years ago, and plugged away at it for seven years, and ended up with a short demo of the first level. Sad and awe-inspiring at the same time, isn't it?

The game is written mostly in Python with a little C where speed was needed (graphics and collision detection). The game engine is written from scratch. Apart from some of the character artwork, which I commissioned, everything in the game was created by me, Carl Banks, or was derived from free publicly available sources.

My plan is to make occasional updates and bug fixes, but the scope of this game (as I see it) is just too large to finish without at least a few million dollars. Since that isn't likely to happen, the game will probably remain a demo forever.

So far I've released only a Windows version of the demo. I plan to release it for Linux as well but there are some critical bugs left to iron out.
