Comparison of the new sprites by sebadukeboss20 to the older ripped sprites
My compliments to sebadukeboss20 !!!
Thank you very much! It's been very fun working on overhauling thousands of sprites. Even these sprites aren't fully final (need to do some small tweaks). I'm hoping the next release will really give a really new feel/look for everyone while maintaining that build engine style.
Really awesome new sprites! They look quite well done indeed! I'm so happy that EP3 wasn't the end of this fantastic mod that for me is better than some of the triple AAA games of today... Best of luck with the future of the project!
(I do be honest, will miss old Sang sprite, quite loved it haha)
Now this is what I called it a true upgrade sprite with precise and accuracy at the top.
Much better.
Damn!
Going to miss the old sprites, they really gave a charm to the game with how they didn't fit with one another.
Saw in the recent patch that Rusty's voices are being re-recorded by a new actor, is the dialogue going to be replaced for all the characters or just some?
I'm all for the continuous development and improvements of the game, and the new sprites do look great, but I sadly struggle with seeing the comfy home-brew vibe slip away...
I get what you mean. I think there's a fine line with Nostalgia in build games and it's a different line for everyone. Many of the sprites I'm replacing were actual placeholders and was whatever was available at the time. I'm also overhauling a lot of the weapons too to make sure they have a consistent look.
It was always a case of using what was available at the time; if the opportunity to change the sprites came earlier I would of taken then as well - once you see the new sprites in-game and in the cutscenes (especially now they have idle sprites so the briefing maps no longer look like a Mexican standoff) you'll agree they're much better.
VA is only getting replaced for the guys gone - Rusty and Geoffrey have been recast and Highwire's VA is on the table as well.
Is it just me or Micky's head is smaller than other characters, comparing to body?
Already fixed it. Someone else pointed it out earlier.
woah, they went from ok to amazing
Amazing, it almost looks like more than 255 colors were used.
Love them!...I actually love the overall game.
If I can criticize one thing, that would be the voice acting.
I know, it is a hard thing to do, as applying a real voice to a sprite or 3d model is always tricky to do...it rarely feels right, even at professional level.
If you want a suggestion is to use one single outstanding narrating voice and or use filters to the voices like a distortion or flanger, or any kind of modulation that make the voice a little less human...as at the moment the voices feel coming not from the characters of the game but from real people (in fact it is what it is). In my opinion some heavy effects on the voice could do the trick.
Anyway, you are doing a fantastic job, well done!
So who was the dark souls looking knight guy in front of Highwire in the new sprite set? I can't find him anywhere and was wondering if he was removed from the game.
That's just Sang. His head looks different now in the current build 3.6.
