TactiX is a unique tactical experience with a huge variety of maps and gamemodes. If you play the default gamemode called "Deathmatch" your task is to destroy the map in a way that you are going to be the last player standing on top of it using 11 of (currently) up to 46 unqiue skills. If you fall into the abyss then you can't win the round anymore but you can still influence the game with your abilities. The final game will also going to offer a huge modding API so people can easily add their own gamemodes, skills, blocks and other features.

This thread contains all known bugs for the current game version. Feel free to post bugs which are not listed here below.

Known Bugs

  • [Problem] Sometimes high ping/lag [on official servers]
  • [Bug] Dedicated servers seem to freeze for unknown reasons (?) [seems to be fixed in 0.0.9]
  • [Bug] New launcher is not downloaded automatically (results in a broken character selection menu)

  • [Visual] Energy Shield obstructs vision even though its transparent [fixed in 0.1]
  • [Bug] [Minor] Trap blocks do not trigger in race mode [fixed in 0.0.9]
  • [Visual] Players who reserved a slot appear as ingame players when joining a game before a round restarts [fixed in 0.0.9]
  • [Visual] Countdown of round restart sometimes appears at the middle of a game when joining a session [fixed in 0.0.9]
  • [Visual] Cooldown overlay is visible when joining spectator mode with an active cooldown [fixed in 0.0.8]
  • [Bug] Detection mines destroy blocks in race mode [fixed in 0.0.8]
  • [Bug] Illusion missiles destroy blocks in race mode [fixed in 0.0.8]
  • [Bug] Pressing both utlity keys at the same time triggers the utility skill twice [fixed in 0.0.8]
  • [Bug] Destruction mode does not work correctly in multiplayer at the moment [fixed in 0.0.8]
  • [Bug] Not all abilities produce energy when they destroy blocks (like fissure or bombs) [fixed in 0.0.8]
  • [Glitch] Using double jump and rocket boost allows you to reach the platform again after having lost [fixed in 0.0.8]
  • [Bug] Size of character is not saved upon exiting the game [fixed in 0.0.7]
  • [Visual] Victory message is sometimes displayed with a wrong color [fixed in 0.0.7]

I'm sorry, I am not able to reproduce this effect. What exactly did you do to cause it?

I tried pressing LSHIFT and RSHIFT at the same time, then with delay and all other possible combinations. I also tried it with different skill levels. Maybe my keyboard does not support pressing both SHIFT keys at the same time. :)

EDIT: Oh ok, I am able to reproduce it when assigning different keys. I am going to add it to the list. Thanks for sharing. :)

The reason why some abilities destroy blocks in race mode is because they are still implemented in an old way. The new system is event based and redirects every destroy call to the current active gamemode where it can decide whether the block should be destroyed or not. The next version will completly prevent any ability from destroying blocks in race-mode :)

Destruction gamemode is bugged? Played with truckers using hamachi, yesterday race was fine, today destruction had bugs:

Our color in scoreboard was black (projectiles too). Also, I spawn at spectator position.

P.S. I hosted.

Update: Seems it doesn't affect singleplayer. My friend sees me:Untitled 1

Oh, I see. Technically speaking destruction mode derives from deathmatch mode but overrides the round restart method wihout executing the base method.

More simple explanation: Players are never allocated to slots on a round restart therefore color => black (=unknown).

Will be fixed in 0.0.8.

Using rocket boost under the map launches you a bit higher.

Jumping off map with double jump but using only single jump allows you to jump once under the map.

This was the only way to save yourself after falling down from the map. I told KaitoAkuma I am going to fix this if somebody ever discoveres it. Thanks again for sharing, will be fixed in 0.0.8. :)

Yes, it is supposed to be like this. They only collapse if the center of your feet touches them. Otherwise you could easily trigger trap-blocks in front of you without having the risk of falling down. :)

Yes, because the shield uses only alpha test but no blending. I add that as a visual bug.

I need a little more information on that:

  1. Did you play on one of the public servers or did you host your own server?
  2. (Did you host it via the client or did you use a dedicated server?)
  3. Does it lag all the time, after a certain amount of time or under certain circumstances?
  4. Which skills did you use?

Since the last two updates the collision events are also synchronized and all packets are buffered but when we benchmarked the new system it required way less traffic than before. So its hard to tell what exactly causes problems.

We were chatting via Skype, even it started to lag. Few updates before it wasn't happening. I think we were lagging at the same time, because blocks didn't fall for both of us.

Strange, we are using Skype all the time but we've never managed to reproduce this kind of lag by force. It seems to occure without any specific reason. I think it only happens on dedicated servers and is related to the new collision synchronizing. I'll add it to the list for now.

EDIT: Ok, after 2 hours of testing it seems like the data buffering is the reason for the delay. Instantly sending packets causes less delay but higher traffic. I think we are going to split buffered traffic into time-critical and non-time-critical. So in total we have 4 types of packets:

Reliable - Time-critical (Block destruction, Collision)
Reliable - Non-time-critical (Entity cleanup)
Unreliabel - Time-critical (Position)Unreliabel - Non-time-critical (Visuals)

Together with shrinking the packet-headers this should solve the problem. :)

We played few matches yesterday, had no problems. Strange...

Bug? If you create a new shield when other your shield still is, the older shield disappears.

Oh, I just noticed that you asked a question. Yes you are supposed to only have one shield at a time. Otherwise it would be way too powerful. :)

Thanks for sharing. Typos are the most evil bugs since they can be easily overlooked. ;)

The next update is taking some time since the online accounts and the character progress require very detailed planning. We are going to release a news post with new things we are working on. :)

Actually no, that is not supposed to be. It seems like your launcher wasn't automatically updated along with the game client so you can still access the old account selection menu. ^^

In the new launcher you can select your character or create a new one before starting the game. At the moment we are creating a totally new launcher which allows you to switch between game versions so as soon as its ready we are going to publish it along with the new version.
