Time for "Screenshot Sunday". We've started to add some of the lighting FX to SUPER TANK WARS!! Currently only simple, white ones. But those will be colorful eventually, resulting in gaudy visuals.
To us, it's crazy how we started off, planning STW!! to become a game 100% authentic to SNES specs. Then we started to use analogue inputs, making it a Twin Stick game - as you will (or maybe you don't) know, the SNES never had any analogue sticks. Then we increased the resolution. Then we used a wider colour palette. Then we started using alpha transparency. Funny, but the game became so much better thanks to all those decisions. I guess what we are doing is building upon the SNES style and push the boundaries just a little bit. And we are excited to see, where this will lead us.
