StarFire was created with the intention to provide a tool to explore the depths of the universe and its secrets in a playful, educational, and thought-provoking manner. In order to do so, the player must design his spacecraft in such way it fits his individual needs and play style, and most importantly, withstands the dangers that linger in the dark. As such, StarFire implements models based on science, and may also cross the border between reality and the paranormal.

Creative Commons License
StarFire Source Code by b5cully is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.

By participating, using and creating content for this software, you also agree to the below terms and conditions.

§1 General
Any source code contributed to the game will fall under the same license. The license applies only, and ONLY to the source code.

§2 Game Packs Creation
a) The authors of StarFire are NOT accountable for the content of a game pack, only for the source code itself. Game packs are NOT part of the game source code - instead they are subject to the license the game pack creator has chosen for its creation, and hereby you are given full permission over the license of your game pack, as long as the content provided abides international law. The game pack creator is fully accountable and responsible for his own game pack.

b) Please make sure in case you are using any third party software that either: 1) the software is licensed under the creative commons license or comparable licenses as well (it MUST be free to use) or 2) the software was legally obtained. If neither is the case, the content concerned will be removed from the official game pack archives immediately.

§3 Possible Commercial Future Release
a) For the commercial release of StarFire, which is planned sometime in the next 3 years, the license of the specific StarFire version transforms from creative commons to a commerical license. If you have contributed source code to the game and do not wish your contribution to be in the commerical release, please mark your contributed code and it will be removed from the game in the final release.

b) Any source code contribution remaining until the commercial release will be rewarded according to the scale of the contribution.

c) If you later on decide not to give permission to the authors of StarFire to use your contribution commercially, and the commercial release was already published, you cannot have your contribution removed from the commercial release, due to the fact you have agreed to these terms by contributing. You still have all rights to the particular source code. Paragraph b) still applies in this particular case.
