Stardust Exile is a MMORTS set in the Milky Way galaxy, containing currently known stars and exoplanets with their real characteristics. The remaining star systems are procedurally generated based on currently known data. You can create your own ship designs with an in-game ship generator.
You can explore and control star systems, and you can rename stars and planets that you control outside of the Solar System, this will be visible to other players. You can create your own ship designs with an easy-to-use procedural ship generator. Compete with other players to retake the Solar System and end your exile.

Game looks genuinely awesome, definitely will play in singleplayer mode, competitive multiplayer doesn't interest me.
In the trailer it says "...or make your own objectives" - what does it mean?
Is it merely an open sandbox without any official goals or is there an ingame feature/system/editor to create an end goal that will trigger a victory?
