Developer Helm Systems has revealed a new gameplay demo for its HTC Vive VR game prototype, The SoulKeeper VR. A first-person fantasy game running on Unreal Engine 4, The SoulKeeper VR features many gameplay elements that this first slew of VR fantasy games are rushing to give us: namelee, melee fighting and the ability to hurl fireballs.
However, The SoulKeeper VR also gives you the ability to play as a dragon. The game switches to third-person for this, allowing you to fly around the landscape, do dragon barrel rolls, and even breathe fire as you swoop past.
Back in first-person, you'll also find yourself avoiding traps, like spike pits and arrow launchers, by using the Vive's room-scale tracking to dodge out of the way, or your spells to teleport you to a new, safer piece of terrain. Helm Systems doesn't currently have a release date in mind, but mentions that all the footage is from a prototype of what will eventually become a full game. To that end, you can download a 2GB demo here and check it out for yourself.
