Sonic CB(Crystal Ball) is a fan-game experiment which blends 2D and 3D elements. The visuals are created by taking a large 3D sphere and wrapping it around the player. Other visual elements include a flexible screen which can zoom, stretch, and pan to the left or right. Objects on the 2D plane also have the ability to move along the Z-axis.
Description
This alpha version of Sonic CB allows gameplay for the first act of 4 different zones: Crystaline Kingdom, Garland Grove, Mystic Oasis, and Polaroptic Powerplant. Playable characters include Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Epsio, Mighty, and Vector. Modes of gameplay are single-player, 2-Player split-screen.

Hey, great demo - I'm glad how much progress you seem to have made...Apart from that I seem to have a slight problem...on the first two selectable levels(I can't remember their names, sry) the game crashes with an unexpected error of some sort and terminates..any idea why...I played the last two levels with no issues whatsoever.
Thanks^^ I haven't had this problem. I've been told that the game tends to crash when the player breaks through walls. Is this when the game crashes for you? That's my only guess, but I'll try to figure out the cause and fix it.
I don't think that's the case. At first it crashed when there were some explosions or something graphically intense, but in the next few plays it crashed even when I was just running fast(have not tested if it crashes from standing still for an amount of time). Still, it only happens on the first(green level) and I think the other one was the last one. The other two I've played start to finish and had no problems at all.

Yes, something with too many sounds overlapping. It seems to work now in windows8 and up
This game is AWESOME! It's actually better than any official 2D Sonic game, in fact, it's the 2D Sonic game I enjoyed the most, i hope you keep up updating this game

Bug encountered: I died on the first stage, then it took me back to the title screen, the stage music was still playing, i pressed start, and then the music from the stage was playing overlapping the song that was already playing
