Years before the events of the game, the world ended. Humanity was all but wiped out, and the atmosphere was coated with a thick, dark cloud. Sam and Sarah are some of the only survivors, and when Sarah goes missing, Sam begins to search the desolate city in order to find her. With help from the scientist Dr. Williams, Sam must brave the dark in his search. But all is not as it seems. Dark creatures lurk in the shadows, and Sam is stalked by a sinister masked man. As Sam begins to discover the truth about the events of the past, only the light from his lantern can keep the darkness at bay, but his light is growing dimmer...
Song of the Firefly is a unique style of side-scrolling 3D platformer, achieving all the precision of 2D platforming mechanics, while still giving you the freedom to explore a rich 3D environment. You'll explore the city, with the light from your lantern protecting you from the shadow creatures in the dark. However, your lantern won't last forever, so you'll have to collect fireflies to keep it lit. Dr. Williams also needs these fireflies to help him power his machinery, though, so you'll have to choose between staying protected, or risking the dark to supply Dr. Williams with the fireflies he needs to help you find Sarah. As you explore, you'll find Sarah's inventions scattered around the city. These allow you to traverse the terrain in new ways, and expand your movement options. Be on the look out for what else you might be able to find, too, because lost in this city lie the secrets to the past.
