Space is a vast and wild frontier. Survival on its fringes often boils down to tried and true violence. You’ll need to fully understand your ship’s systems and its offensive/defensive capabilities if you don’t want to be torn apart by other vessels lurking in the dark.

Manual control of engines will let you maneuver around enemies, dodge attacks, flee, and even ram opponents. Main engines are controlled using ASWD (for forward, reverse, and strafing) and shunting engines are operated with QEZC (for rotation) and can be set to rotate clockwise or counter clockwise.

There are automated maneuvers that can perform some of these tasks if your attention need to shift to ship repairs or negotiations.

Weapon systems can be set to an automatic mode or manual mode as well. Manual weapon control allows you to target ships with pinpoint accuracy, which works well for lasers, but you’ll need to lead your target if you want to do damage with cannon shells and torpedoes. Manual control will let you take out a ships engines more easily and give you a chance to overload their thermos-nuclear reactors for a near instant victory.

Shields, drones, and decoys can be activated with hotkeys or by clicking on their float buttons at the bottom of the local space map. Collisions can bring a space battle quickly to an end, but the chances of damaging your own ship in the process are very high. Once an enemy ship is subdued you can dock with it (or they can dock with you if the roles are reversed) and the action can switch to NPC battles.

Docking can be done manually or automatically, and having an ordered and armed squad ready on the connecting bay is generally a good idea for a quick boarding assault.

Suggestions and instructions are a good place to start your interstellar combat training, but you will undoubtedly develop your own tactics. Be bold, make mistakes, wreck your ship into 1,000 fragments—have fun as you learn how to put a dent in the cold gaze of the solar systems you explore.
