I have taken the challenge of #1GAM - creating one game a month. This is the first game of 12 to come.
Skeletal Dance Simulator is a game made in less than 5 days for AGDG Demo-day. It features cute voxel-art made in VoxelMagica and uses Unity 3D as engine.
Knights are trying to ruin your dance party! Defend yourself and your disco ball. Pull bodies into the coffin to make more friends.
Drag bodies with Left mouse button.
Kill skeletons with Right mouse button.
Reanimate skeletons via dragging them
unto their feet.

Hello, Jesper here with some news on Skeletal Dance Party development. This is the first dev blog I've written for it. My hope is to put out a recap blog from time to time highlighting some interesting features and solutions I've found.
So firstly; what is Skeletal Dance Party? It is a game about Reva, a young foxgirl necromancer that wants to host the largest ever dance party for her skeletons. Gameplay wise it is like all other Catalope Games hard to fit in one genre, one can best describe it as a but physics based tactical RPG. A mix of Pikmin and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.
All animations, spells and abilities are physics based. Expect a lot of mayhem!
Now for the progress done during this week.
I added a corpse explosion spell that causes a body to cause damage to nearby enemies and spawn healing items for your skeletons. Since all healing items currently are cartons of milk it turned out quite comedic. It would be really silly to keep it in the game, but some deepest lore would be needed to explain it.
The game being physics based causes simple things as minions walking up stairs to become quite funny. I think he had a drink to much. As you can see compared to the first gif I also updated the graphics quite a lot.
A second update added gibs to corpse explosion and your own minions when they die. This also gives the player a clear indication of what parts that can be used for necromancy.
The last update I did today was making the necromancer actually use a rigidbody to move around, I did not manage to get this to work previously game feel vise, it felt to floaty. The key was to instead of using forces for acceleration directly manipulate the velocity of the player's ragdoll.
