Siege of Inaolia, The first game from Riftwalker Ltd, intends to put survival games on the map by offering a refined and fresh experience in the form of a game that pays heavy attention to story as well as a high replay value by means of dynamic combat, a game that promotes skill over spam while remaining easy to pick up. Set in the Dark Fantasy world of Ilastria, a world plagued by wars and magic as well as the orcs and their kin, you control one of three unlikely heroes in their struggle to survive within the ancient fortress of Inaolia, a task that they soon come to learn, has the very fate of the world in the balance.

Post news Report RSS Changing The Way Survival Games Are Played #16

So we've not had a new in a little over a month despite releasing Alpha 2.5; In this weeks article we'll be speaking about what we've been up to this past month along with our most recent changes.

Whats Changed Since Last Time?

We've all been hard at work to put it bluntly, there has been some slow down but we've got a steady slew of updates coming in Alpha 3 so we're just taking time to make sure everything goes all right on the other hand we did put out Alpha 2.5 which fixes the problems with the orcs getting stuck in terrain and right now said orcs are brilliant! They Leap at you from both the holes in the cave and they actually flank you from time to time, we've also Adjusted their spawn locations so they don't just pop up near arches but instead come from a path.
I'm also changing the way our news summary is presented, instead of highlighting the members and what they did within their departments, I'm simply going to be giving an overall summary of whats been done for each particular department.
I have also been working on revamping the script for the story mode, most details are under wraps but lets just say that I'm working on fleshing out and improving the overall tension and feel to it.
To top it all off we've got two new members to our team, Marcus Mills and Steven Davis both are great character modelers that are sure to help us progress even faster!

3D Modeling and Animation Department:

  • Textures were created for existing models.
  • Duncan and the Ravager Daemon are WIP.
  • New weapons and shields are done and awaiting texturing.
  • New boulders created and textures.

Art Department:

  • Orc Brute Completed.
  • Screecher Daemon in works.
  • Mastery Concepts for Duncan, Draeldos and Esaya in works.
  • Offensive Duncan and Draeldos Completed.

Audio Department:

  • Sounds for bubbling lava created.
  • Flame burning noise in works.
  • New Composition in works.

Level Design and Programming Department:

  • New sounds implemented.
  • New spawn and path code implemented.
  • Snow arena WIP.
  • New fences added to Inferno.

Why Not Simply Wait And Release Alpha 3?

We figured it would be best to create a 'half' version of Alpha 3, it puts a major problem of ours to rest while at the same time proving that we are indeed still at work!

Why Did You Choose To Re-do The Script?

Well after going through the script once again I felt that there was room for major improvement but then again that improvement would have to come at a cost which was a complete revamp of the story mode. Most of the main key points are still present such as the Orc Invasion, Inaolia being the one thing holding the majority of the Orc forces back but now there's an even bigger focus on the characters, their bond and what sets them apart from each other.

What Else Has Been Going On?

Ian recently had the chance to have a solo interview done on Take Initiative, you can check it out Here.
Also I don't believe I thanked Ross of Indie Base for taking the time to interview me so here's a shout out to him, this particular interview focuses on speaking more about the skill trees of the heroes and more about the heroes themselves, you can check it out over Here.
And of course Alpha 2.5 has been released and you can download it Here!
Do remember to give us feedback on our releases, we love to hear from you guys.

Great progress, I'm really feeling confident about this game, something that I'm not able to say too often.
