Shallow Space is a 3D Real Time Strategy game inspired by Nexus: The Jupiter incident and Homeworld. Shallow Space focuses on organised mass RTS space combat in a fully 3D environment. Ships in Shallow Space are nearly always grouped into Flotillas and Wings, and orders issued to these structures cascade to the subordinate members. Rather than stressing out clicking on the units or dragging selection boxes during the heat of battle, standing orders are issued in advance leaving you to zoom around, activating abilities and arranging support and reinforcements. Should the tide turn in battle traditional control is still available.

Hello my name is Biran Purkiss, thankyou for watching this Shallow Space tutorial. Shallow Space is a true space 3D RTS, so lets start off by looking at the camera controls. We have the standard WASD control for controlling the X axis and then we have Q & E and the scrollwhell for controlling the Y axis, the verticality of the camera. Click with the middle mouse to look around and it allows you to take the camera wherever you like. Holding Z zooms the camera and holding SHIFT accelerates the camera movement.

Shallow Space allows players to control time, you can pause using the SPACE BAR to speed up time PERIOD to slow down time COMMA. When issuing commands it is helpful to have the grid displayed. Players ships are organised into Flotillas and the into Wings.

To select your units you can select them by clicking on the flotilla icon in the battlefield or in the sidebar and the same goes for wings. To issue move commands, select the units you want to move using the LMB, RMB to initiate the move and then LMB to choose the position to move too. You can use the scroll wheel to control the height.

Carrier house wings of frigate used for shooting down missiles and hunting down targets, you can launch the frigates by clicking on the launch icon (See README.) You can get the frigates to hunt down opponents by clicking on the guard action icon to change their hostility, clicking again returns them to a passive action. You can issue commands to the wings of frigates like any other wings of ships.

Missiles are long rang weapons capable of firing in devastating burst to medium and long range targets. On the battlegrid you will see three rings if you have a missile capable ship selected. The outer dashed ring represents the missiles maximum range, the middle dashed ring represents the minimum missile range and the inner solid ring is the maximum range of the conventional weapons.

To fire a return salvo, increase or decrease the number of missiles required and choose the single missile button in the 'Indirect Fire' dialogue box or right click on a enemy flotilla icon or the individual ships with a wing or flotilla selected. To hide the UI press the TILDE key in the top left corner of your keyboard.

Thanks for listening.
