This is my attempt of making a good ego-shooter with the Unity game engine. As the title suggests, it's highly inspired by the Serious Sam series and in fact was started after playing a round in „First encounter-classic“. It is in a very early stage but it's developing quite fast and I'm pretty satisfied with what I have so far. The plan is: Updating a playable version as often as possible and release a change log every time I upload a new prototype.

Prototype Verson 0.1

This is were it all starts. A bunch of core elements are implemented, a lot of the frame work is done. This version was from about 8 hours into the project.
Keep in mind that this is not the most current version of the game, but the most stable one. As soon as I fix some mayor bugs and added a few more core game play elements I'll upload the new version. I really just want this one here for completeness sake.

controlls:

  • move with WASD or arrows;
  • jump with space
  • use mousewheel to show an early version of the weapon switch system
  • pick up stuff by walking over it

known problems:

  • jumping doesn't really work
  • dying doesn't work either
  • you can jump while in air
  • powerups don't do anything
  • score and ammo system don't work
  • there are no colors :(

That game demo is not really nice, but the idea it's possible to be a good idea, continue in development and try to do the hard of you.

Thanks for your reply and support. I wouldn't call it a demo though, since there is no real gameplay yet. More a proof of concept. Or a concept of a proof of concept. It would be great if you would take the time to play the next few prototypes when they are out and tell me what you think. Critic is always appreciated.

I like it, there is a little but to much inertia on the turning, though.

Either you haven't updated the "known problems" list yet, or my computer is amazing somehow.

Power Ups worked
Jumping is fine (minus the fact that you can fly with it)

But there was also a problem I found, and that was that u can't shoot.

Anyways, it's pretty good for an earlier version of a game/game concept. :)

First of all, thank you guys for your kind words. You are awesome!

@shovel: That's a good point. I'll fix that in an future update, thx!

@Chrome: Shooting isn't implemented yet and probably won’t be for the next few updates. First I want to nail the movement. And the problem list is correct. A new version is gonna go online today so if you wanna see what I meant just check out the new prototype.

But I'll try to write the change log a bit more clear from now on :)
