Must be a hoot to use public transportation while carrying a heavy, unconcealable minigun on a sling around your neck.

Description

With an extensive catalog that ranges from simplistic coil pistols to military grade, multi-barreled area denial systems, CalTech is without a doubt the most successful firearm manufacturer in the contemporary galaxy. Not only are their coil and railarms of generally high quality but they are available virtually everywhere and for virtually every market. From the back-alley thug wielding a M1114 with a filed-off ID chip to elite black-ops commands armed with high-grade M405 assault rifles and C2000 NITE suppressed carbines, CalTech manufactures for everyone, everywhere, and in every quantity.

What the corporation has gained through sheer market saturation however it lacks in innovative design, and - in the case of cheaper models – ballistic performance. CalTech weapon systems are considered bland by professionals and enthusiasts alike, with the corporation having settled on the design philosophy - and advertising slogan - „Kinetic might makes Right!“

Rarely has CalTech produced a weapons intended for specialist application, relying instead on third party entrepreneurs to design – and sometimes manufacture - conversion kits that adapt the basic CalTech design to the needs of niche customers. Lack of specialization notwithstanding, CalTech remains firmly entrenched it its dominant market position, and most economists doubt the pan-galactic corporation will disappear from the firearms scene any time in the next millennium.
